words of advice for younger people: weed is so much better.

Overall yes, but can also be just as big of a problem as alcohol.

i know, but even so it's possible to recover – unlike alcohol that causes too many irreversible changes.

Hehe. I tried those lozenges (well, Zyn pouches) to quit vaping. They are quite nice indeed. I still use them during gigs, but then I just go right back to vaping. A vicious cycle.

That’s a bummer, I managed to get off vaping with zyn and was going to suggest it lol

That’s a tough one to agree with

Not really, it depends on the person.

I am very pro weed but it just does some people no good. Psychosis is no joke!

  • Alcohol lowers attention to detail while cannabis raises it from my experience, not limited to music, and sometimes in an exaggerated way that can be positive or negative.

My late teens and 20s were kind of wild, but these days and since I've stopped smoking cigarettes and vaping I limit myself to beer when I watch football/soccer and a bottle of wine every other weekend.

To keep the habit of drinking something like I would when binging I switch to water.

Stopping with weed and binging alc did change my music listening habits though. Rap flows don't hit the same way and kinda lose their hypnotic feel without weed. Hip Hop/Rap was a genre I've discovered high and it's just not the same without it.

I'm less tolerant for hard guitar riffs or rawstyle screech sounds and ultra distorted kicks without being drunk.

My new measure of quality is how well it entertains me while working out. The ipad was also game changer for music making while working out on a fitness bike.

Oh yeah, I was being a bit subjective and forgot it can do that. I was considering just the physical aspects but yeah, I do have a couple friends who can’t handle it cos of what it does to them mentally due to schizophrenia.

I only drink socially, and that doesn’t come about all that often. Which I’m fine with.

“Socially”, to me at least, implies not wrecking yourself, so it’s kinda self-policing, as it were. Oh, plus I no longer wish to destroy myself (yes, I have been there, and yes, at one point alcohol played its part).

I'm pretty much on the same page as you when it comes to alcohol. I drink socially too, but it's not a regular thing for me, and that's cool. I think it's all about finding that balance, you know? And definitely, being mindful of not overdoing it. It's important to listen to our bodies and recognize any signs of alcohol poisoning if things ever start feeling off.
