Nearly every decision made regarding this show's script and characters is completely baffling. I don't know if it speaks to the quality of the screenwriters or the people/person (?) at Amazon signing off on this mess.

Probably all of the above. Frankly I think their decisions are cynical rather than baffling - everything points to hammering Tolkien to fit winning formulas in TV so they don’t put their investment at risk.

I decided not to bother with this season. The level of disrespect the show runners/writers showed for the first season killed it for me. I really don’t know why you’d spend this much on a show and not employ people who love the material.

Well said. There were so many lines of dialogue in the first season which severely sprained my eyes from all the eyerolling. Then I gave the second season a shot but I finally tapped out. I'd be ashamed to have my name attached to this series, except if I was an art director or production designer.

    Yes. It looks beautiful.

It’s a 150 million show in looks based on a 150 dollar script. Tolkien takes time to develop his stories and the pacing of the series is ten times slower than the authors original pacing. It’s not a bad series it’s just not that good either.

Not $150 million. It cost them $1 billion for the first season.

  • It is insane that they can spend those sums on production but completely cheap out on the highest impact per dollar part of creating these shows😅

Yeah. If the story is bad you really have no foundation for the rest of it.

Yeah, the pacing is so slow it feels like they’re portraying the Second Age in real time.

And almost every single character is annoying. How could they write this badly.

On the plus side, Rings of Power is SOOOOO much better than the Foundation TV show was/is. Talk about butchering the books to make a movie!

  • Why can’t they just do something original? Are they devoid of any ideas or ideals?
