  • @martinsa82 thanks for listening. Totally agree about the bass - it was a bit of an experiment in using Scaler 2 and this is what it churned out! I should have edited the bass line more. I’d usually be playing a real bass guitar, but just wanted to try something new. Cheers

    Summer of love (#3)

    https://soundcloud.com/kitusai/lodici

    Lodici
    Adapted from Arthur Rimbaud - Poetry

    The winter we will go in a small pink wagon
    With blue cushions.
    We will be well. A nest of crazy kisses lies
    In each soft corner.

    You'll close your eyes so you won't see
    Wail the evening shadows,
    Those snarling monstrosities,
    Of demons and black wolves.

    A little kiss, like a crazy spider,
    Runs around your neck

    And you will say to me,
    You'll say to me, "Look!" and bow your head
    And we'll take time to find this beast

    And we'll take time,
    Much, much...

    A thousand years of happiness!
    ...

    Very beautiful and atmospheric, lovely combination of piano and strings. The sound at the end is great, it's got a real edge to it, like a musical saw or something similar.

    This is a music track that I improvised on two MIDI keyboards connected to an iPad.

    I used Bome Network software to send the iPad's MIDI notes to Bitwig Studio running on a desktop PC. There the MIDI was routed to Native Instruments Noire for the piano instrument, as well as Lumina and Lores for the singing voices. I also used two instances of TAL-U-NO-LX and one instance of Alchemy for the background instruments.

    After bringing the audio recording into Vegas Pro, I applied the Lurssen Mastering Console plug-in to the audio mix.

    It’s titled Remembrance.

    Another meditative piece, well performed and with some nice sounds. The piano in particular is beautiful.

    This is one of the tracks I made during the summer.

    Another piano piece this month, it's obviously the instrument of the moment :)

    This is a very good use of a motif, that is found throughout the piece but never feels repetitive or predictable. The melodies are beautiful and very engaging and the drums really help to give some dynamics and structure to the arrangement.

    The track evolves beautifully and bears repeated listens, great job.

  • @richardyot The rhythm, the percussions and the arrangements are very successful. I definitely like your sad and sweet melodies.

    @DavidEnglish The sounds are deep and silky. It is a very relaxing piece, which delicately caresses the ear.

    @martinsa82 I really like the combination of the piano and the double bass. I liked less the drums that I would have preferred more light and jazzy. The sound recording is of a limpid clarity. The repeat at 3'45 is great. The fade out at the end is dry :-)

    @studs1966 Is it a remix ? Great voice for a track that could be described as soul-disco? Very catchy and joyful, nice work!

    @BillS A beautiful song built and interpreted in the rules of art. I don't have enough English to understand the lyrics but I liked it. The production and the sounds are impeccable. Maybe just the sound of the sax is a bit tight but rare are the sampled sax sounds credible it seems to me. In any case, a nice first contribution that I hope will be followed by many others!

    I really like how the words “out of the shadows” seem to peek out unexpectedly from the musical intro. I also like how the reverb seems to have a longer delay than expected. That fits well with the topic and overall mood. “Sorrow and pain” can persist, much like a long-delayed echo.

    @Kitusai
    I especially like the soft drifting quality of the opening chords. It has a nice analog, slightly out-of-tune feel. The singing voice with background orchestral strings works extremely well to set the overall tone of the song. It’s both delicate and lyrical.

    @martinsa82
    This one gently oscillates between melody and repetitiveness. Or -- put another way -- between Keith Jarrett and Steve Reich (though not directly imitative of either). It has a satisfying suspended-in-air quality that makes it contemplative and meditative. Would be good music to have playing in the background when you need to think through something.

    @studs1966
    Nice piano solo that sets the mood. Then out of the blue comes a strong voice that grabs you right away. Strong backup vocals, as well. Great production values with a catchy tune.

    @BillS
    Solid traditional song with especially strong lyrics. It’s sentimental and poetic without being maudlin or overly self-conscious. Musically, the saxophone at the beginning is particularly effective.
