  • Question...I use Bleass Compressor as my bread-and-butter compressor. It can do everything, including NY compression. Is there something this plugin can do that Bleass' Compressor can't? 🙂

Compressors are personal preference. The Bleass is what you like. Others might like the DDMF. Some may like this..we won't know till it's put through it's paces. I'm always open minded to something new brought to the table

I should explain - I love MagicDeathEyeStereo for mastering. I love Roughrider3 for gritty compression. I love Korvpressor for smashing the absolute shite out of a sound if that's the effect I wish to achieve. I love Woott for basses. Bleass for "everyday" functions. I don't use just one compressor.

And the reason I asked is IHNY-2 will probably cost 30 quid and I wish to know what this can do differently/how exactly it affects sound compared to other compressors.

  • The "White Sea Audio" kid on YouTube liked it (with a few notable areas for improvement to the developer). He seems to test a lot of plugins.

  • Okay, I'm sold, lol.

  • Also on beta but haven't had a chance to test it yet. There's an excellent review here:

    That's an ad my dude

Eh I'm not sure about that. They do talk about the lack of visual feedback for example.

BORING. Should’ve ported their other effects first. All the developers port their compressors first or too early…wack.

I also find it hard to get excited about compressors.

+1 anything else from the 21 Modulators collection would have been much more welcome than another compressor. Baby Audio is about the bag

  • I just don’t see how a compressor secures “the bag”. It’s probably the ONE tool that EVERY developer makes their version of, and there’s only so many things you can do with a compressor. As long as you have one quality transparent and one quality “color” or “vintage” compressor, not like you’re getting anything but a new package. And not like many people can even tell the difference between them.

No, this one is completely different! ;)

  • I'm curious about how worth it is the IAP.. the free version is already a really useful tool, perfect for live performances

The IAP is preset STACKED 😳. 150 of em

  • After a quick listen I'm not so impressed by this BA offering, so no IAP for me.
FAC Medusa on the other hand gives me chills and instant gratification with minimal effort :sunglasses:

In the IAP are not only the presets. You will also get all the tweaking features. Attack, release and a bunch of other curves.

  • My breakfast this AM cost more than this IAP, so I bought it. I’ll probably have to pay for breakfast again tomorrow…but not the IAP

Spending more than 20 on a breakfast. I’ll let that sink in for a while.

Must be eating breakfast at Dorsia

Oh look another compressor. I will say I’m interested in a couple of their other effects though, if they’d only port the fun stuff first. I think they do an amazing job of streamlining their effects while still providing the bare necessity of tweaking.

I sigh in disappointment when I see an app released and it’s a compressor - I’m spoiled rotten hoping for synths and delays 😂

  • NAC - Not Another Compressor

    (of course I got it)

  • Short and modest demo of the free version:

How are the IAP's? I'm curious what you can do with the Tweak button and of course the oh so many presets.

The Tweak button actually opens up a full menu with Attack/Release, Ratio, Punch, Harmonics, Shape, Tilt, and Hi/Lo shaping. I also took a quick jaunt through the presets and you can definitely cover a lot of ground with this thing!

I know it’s “just another compressor,” but I’m quite pleased with it. It’s got quite a bit of character, it overdrives nicely, it breathes quite naturally, and it’s relatively easy to dial in. Not sure whether it’s worth $28 CAD but I certainly don’t regret spending it yet.

To jump in on the conversation above: in Toronto, $28 gets you a cup of coffee and a rather nice sit-down breakfast, or two cocktails in a dingy-but-not-dangerous dive bar, or three pints of local craft beer at any pub that has a kid’s menu (tax and tip extra in every case). IMO it’s a reasonable amount of money to spend on something you enjoy, but I’m also not going to pretend it’s negligible or criticize anyone for not wanting to spend it on a variation of something they already have.
