    Failure to launch 🙃

  • So, what is the price of this app?

  • seems the app is free but the subscription is $4.99/month

Reminds me a bit of Blocs Wave...

  • @Simon …True but this is a really pro app!

The issue is that the plugin is reliant on sample pack releases, like Arcade. If it's good, or well marketed, and a ton of people pick it up then it'll likely increase in value at a reasonable rate. If not, then it'll fizzle out if the company hasn't committed to spending more than a few months of losses on it.

  • @KirbyMumbo : From what I can see the quality is quite good. Reading g some of the comments on YouTube, others feel the same .

  • Quality usually isn't the biggest issue with subscription services, volume is.

If the idea is I'm specifically paying for something monthly, software or physical goods, I need to see the value return. If it's a static library or something that's updated once a year, then I'm paying for access to your software and there are too many compeititors to ever do that. Especially in music.

Unless the value is there or you need that specific software, subscription services don't make much sense.

That being said, if people sub and they put out hearty packs of loops every month, 30-50 loops, then I can see some value for people who make a ton of music.

  • They should provide free content to entice new customers 🤦‍♂️

If it can compete favorably with Arcade , then I’d say it’s worth it .. Especially at only half the price .

  • +1

  • So has anyone tried it? This could be a watershed moment for iOS if it’s solid

  • …They need a demo pack so new users can try before they buy. Almost pointless to offer a free app and no content to try it with. 🤦‍♂️

Blocs, LaunchPad will be amazing as Auv3… GrooveBox also..

  • Ohhh.. or a Koala update with Key Transpose etc. and a sample production team… will do just fine..

So you’re saying if I download this without a subscription and open the app there isn’t a single damned thing I can toy with before subscribing?

    Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeit.

    Nada damn thing!
I’m not sure what kind of marketing strategy this is.

I might be wrong, but that sounds like a violation of the App Store rules.

Oh wow, although now that you mention it this does seem off.

If memory serves, an app cannot be offered on the App Store if it does nothing for the customer. A subscription app should at least demonstrate a minimum of function.

    100%!!!!!

  • Well I saw for myself. When you open the app you are immediately greeted with a text field to either sign in or sign up. There’s not even a pretty picture in the background, just black. So you click sign up and are redirected to the sound ware website where you find out that the subscription is 7.99 a month. 4.99 is the launch discount. And you do get a 7 day free trial. But they should have done this via IAP. So I’m probably not gonna sign up.

  • The latest app releases have really helped me with my GAS problem 😂

    No shit.

  • People that do production (commercial) work with a good income can afford subscription fees, not for people who make music as a hobby. So this kind of payment is not good for an iOS environment. Offcourse there are people who use their iDevice in a professional environment, but what is the market share of these people? Most production studio's use a desktop environment and the software for that ecosystem.
It's the same with people who start photography as a hobby. Would they start out with a subscription of Adobe software (Photoshop, Lightroom), or choose instead for something like Affinity Photo, witch is a one-time payment.

Adobe subscription is on iOS too. I feel the subscription model is fine on iOS because Netflix, Spotify and Amazon Prime proved that a long time ago. $7.99 or 4.99 per month for Sylo is small. The app UX concerns me. I would think the developers would make a slicker onboarding experience that allows new users to use a demo pack without any strings attached.

  • @Stuntman_mike : IOS music production is for pros and hobbyists alike. Especially now w Apple Silicone integration where Mac users can also use iOS apps. If you follow mobilemusicpro’s livestreams you’ll see that several larger developers are orating their stuff over like Scaler 2, Toneboosteds, Eventide etc. it’s a mixed bag .
