  • Thanks, I’ll remember to look slightly further down than the first thread next time 😊

  • Nice! I like what they're doing with Note. Adding functionality to enhance their mobile app. rather than crippling it. Very nice!

  • Is this the one to watch… Ableton Live 12 pending….

Seems Live 12 is going to change everything..

  • live 12 not a game changer but it is a really solid update with excellent features! I love it!

however, i don't think users should have to pay for updates like the new 'keep latency' function, that should be a free update for Ableton 11 also and i hope that happens!

Ableton note is looking good too when the new update comes out soon.

sure, why not if technically possible. however there was quite a long time between these upgrades to new version, not so much from 11 to 12.

  • live 11 came out in Feb of 2021. That is a long time between spending for an update. Dev's need their money to eat as well.

Odd time signatures for one. And some UI bells and whistles.

  • i mean 3 years between is ok to pay for a new version i guess but certain features should be spefic to the new > @drez said:

yeah like i said 3 years is ok however the latency issue is almost like a bug and should have been fix years ago. Ableton live 11 users should get that feature. that's my point. I'm not against paid updates every three years.

It’s not always practical to be able to roll something like that in … especially if the feature relies on architectural differences between the versions.

    Was hoping for a sequencer.

A virtual Push controller would be perfect, many including me would be ready to drop a hunni for this. The main reason I don't own a Push is desktop space and portability.

Auv3? I'm discovering Live 11... Can only imagine 12 with all the improvements... Hope Touchable is updated...
Oh... and LK... I think ALS export will be the thing for us iPad music makers.

well, i don't think we will see auv3 as it wouldn't make sense to Ableton but i don't know the future roadmap.

Well, MiDi Import will be nice... Wink?

Ableton 12 is a much better improvement than 10 and 11 were. But they iterate much more slowly compared than Bitwig which has been incrementally out pacing them.

I see no reason why Note couldn't do everything a standalone Push3 can do. A virtual Push3 would be awesome but probably not profitable enough for Ableton to do so in the near future. Hopefully Note lives long enough to finally get there with limited dev resources. I wonder if the non HW related code of Push3 is portable enough to be built for iOS.

I'd pay $100 for a proper official Push app, thats a third of what I've paid for the iPad I currently use. They should charge more for Note and make it a first class tool.

I thought Ableton 11 supports AUv3 plugins today

ETA: Oh you mean Note, right? Yeah I'm not holding by breath there.

Yeah, I’m not expecting a lot more from Note for what it cost but I’m not complaining, it’s nice for what it does especially if you own Ableton. I do think it would be great if it exported stem for those who don’t have Ableton and would like to import them into other IPad Daws

Not sure if either of you have or have used a Push before, but its advantage is that it's a physical piece of gear. You cannot replicate "on glass" all of the physical attributes that makes the push...a push. I only say this because I own all 3 versions of push 😂 The tweak ability of the knobs, the many buttons that allow you to switch functionality, and of course the pads themselves. Those are what make the push so quick and useful. You have to be SO DAMN ACCURATE on and iPad because glass is so unforgiving on accuracy. Plus, the response times of the screen are nowhere near what hardware is.

There used to be a touchosc version of a push that you could connect up to ableton and honestly, it just wasn't useful. Did not compare.

  • I think that's one part of it, but also I know Ableton just really looks at Push as an instrument in it's own right. The hardware is definitely a big part of that, especially with the MPE pads on Push 3. But even deeper than that it's just about your whole approach to this interactive way of making music. It's not Ableton in a box (ala Maschine) like so many people think. It's really trying to be a it's own workflow and the hardware to make that happen.

I don't know, it reads cheesy when I type it out, but I think it would be really hard to replicate on anything other than the dedicated hardware and interface combination. I think Note is a more iOS focuses approach on that kind of workflow. Embrace the benefits of the touchscreen, and not try and replicate exactly what works well in Push.

But the price… compared to Touchable Pro. Guess it has its advantages and disadvantages….And, you cannot write text to hardware… Let’s see what ZeroDebug is coming with for Live 12..
