Patterning for iPhone works very well in stage manager in combination with AUM 😊
Well, you won’t be able to check because iOS 16 won’t give you an option to test 4 apps running simultaneously on older hardware.
Just saw that IOS16 is available for my old iPad 9.7 Gen 5. Will it kill it cpu wise?
Of course. But the remark was made with respect to Stage Manager, which can run 4 apps simultaneously in foreground, in different windows. I suspect the real limitation is processor memory. We had the same thing before with Split View, which required 2 GB processor memory, so it never reached iPad Air (1) with only 1 GB.
I still can't believe my lowly 5th Gen is getting IOS16. Hope I don't regret it.
I have a 2017/2018 iPad Pro and it’s running fine. You’ll be OK.
Yeah! Thanks. Was so happy it went through fine. But was running really low on space. I accidentally deleted Tera Proband all my custom presets.
Back to square one. 😆
Can anyone confirm if Nave is working on iOS 16? Thanks 🙏🏼🙌🏼
Working here for me on iOS 16.2 on a 10.5 2017 iPad Pro.
Nave works on iPadOS 16.2, but there is no IOS version
Cheers! Thank you.. I meant iPadOS indeed 😁🙌🏼
Nave is one of my "green light" plugins before upgrading OS version.
I’m still on 15.1 and everything is working just fine. However I’m thinking of installing 16.7.1.
There are a few apps that require 16.1 that I quite like the look of, but nothing I have GOT to have…
Anyone installed os 16 and regretted it? Anyone got any good reasons (other than being able to install apps that require 16) why I should install it?
Apple typically supports two major OS versions back for security updates. So, iOS/iPadOS 15.x will still get an update if a critical security flaw is discovered. That will end when 18.0 ships in about 10 months. So you have some time, but from a support perspective you should start thinking about an upgrade. It's been a long time since 16.0 came out so my memory is hazy, but I think it was a pretty drama-free release from a new bugs perspective. I don't recall any major problems with my (at the time) AUM and Zenbeats-based workflow, or any AUv3's that stopped working or anything, so I don't think there's any reason not to do it unless you have very old hardware and are trying to conserve every CPU cycle. There were a few annoyances with 17.0, but at version 17.1 things seem pretty smooth and stable for me (M1 iPad Pro, spending most of my time in Logic or AUM).
I say go for it! That said, I usually install new OS updates on the day they drop, so you and I are temperamentally very different
I installed it on my iPad Pro 2017 because I wanted to use the ChatGPT app which requires iOS 16.1. I definitely regretted it. Everything is slower and more laggy (yes, even days after the mystical "burn-in period"), and WebAudio has become basically unusable due to extreme crackling whenever there's graphics activity.
Ok, cool - two very different perspectives. Thanks @mjm1138 and @SevenSystems for taking the time to respond.
I should've said, I'm on a 6th gen 2018 ipad....
