Some blank Music paper and the pencil. Or recording function on the Mobile phone. That’s what I use on the go. No apps.
Isn't Ableton note the only one where you don't need to separately define your tempo ?
(If there's another one somebody please tell me).
I never tried Werkbench and it hasn’t been updated in many years. Was always interested in it though. Some great recs there. Nanoloop is a classic. Idk if it was mentioned but Sinusoid is also great.
I’ll see your Nanoloop and Sinusoid, and raise you a bleep!BOX…
All great. Bleep!BOX is still awesome. Sinusoid too.
In fact, now is a good time to play with all Erik Sight / Humble apps after the latest E-L-S-A update
Depends how you work. For me it's Tune Maker. Also NanoStudio for more in depth ideas. But I'm sketching for recording guitars, bass and vocals at a later date on Desktop.
5+ months later, I'll revise my answer. I stick with just Gadget on my iPhone these days. I can then airdrop the project to my iPad for completion.
In FL Studio I record freely and then stretch the midi to match the grid, it’s better for me because note sometimes doesn’t get it right
I didn’t know bleepbox still worked! I never got around to trying it but I know a lot of people really like it.
And yeah new Elsa update is fantastic.
b!B is still alive and kicking, universal and outputs perfect loops and full songs.
No kidding! Wonder if it’ll ever get an update or just gradually fade away. I’m always wary of buying apps like this if they haven’t been updated in many years.
sometimes it’s impressive that an app hasn’t needed updating, don’t-fix-it-if-it-ain’t-broke type thing.
some upgrades like AUv3 or whatever never happened but dude’s apps march on (Genome is his too). To me both are masterpieces of their type through all the iOS updates over the years. I think people don’t like Genome’s GUI, but feature wise it’s a top tier clip launch midi sequencer, first on iOS and when synths were added the first iOS clip launch groovebox was born (the earliest surviving at least…)
Hmm maybe I’ll give it a shot. At that price, even if I just get a years worth out of it, it could be worth it.
