    Bundle complete, thank you 😊

  • there was two i didn’t had, silo and bass mint so i got them both for $5.43 from the bundle with taxes included, basically i got one of them for free

  • When i install a second tails reverb, it snaps … anybody else ? Ipad pro 11 last ios

  • edited December 2022

Oh just picked up bass mint and Lo-Fi for £ 4.52 total in the bundle as had the other 3 sweet.

  • Fantastic! Definitely getting the bundle. Am I right in thinking the discounts for the bundle and individual apps will stay until 2nd Jan?

Not yet as I've not bought them yet and it's posts like these that make me postpone my purchase :sunglasses:
(I'm so fed up when I have to start 'trouble shooting' newly purchased apps when they don't work as expected).

If I recall correctly there are TestFlight links to most of their apps with more recent versions compared to the AppStore version.

i tried again and again, it snaps every time ... now, the bundle is superb ! really good apps ... i just wonder if this happens to anyone else but me ? but yeah, i agree, a few apps already behaved like this in the past, not a new ting

Just for info, i am playing the apps in AUM

    Snaps? You mean crashes?

I managed to run two on my Air 4 with no crashes, but it was very laggy.

The current deal is very good and the apps are great, but I haven’t yet grabbed the bundle (I’ve already got Silo and Lo-fi) as the reverb Testflight version doesn’t run too smoothly on my device. I might just add Needlepoint to my collection.

I had the same experience until I boosted the AUM buffer from 256 to 512. 512 allows 3 instances but no more. All other buffer settings allow only 2 instances before crashing. Under 512, 2 instances run well with no noticeable latency or sluggishness. I prefer to keep AUM buffer at lower setting so maybe this can be looked at. @trickyflemming

Hadn’t looked into these apps at all ‘cause I have plenty already but got tempted by the bundle bing released at €23,99, so I thought what the heck I haven’t bought almost anything lately (as compared to before) and wow they all sound great! And that is an understatement, been having a ton of fun for the last few hours 😆 Thank you UA great job! Highly recommended
(Btw tHe iPad mini 5 is smoking now, right on time for breakfast to fry the eggs)

  • @trickyflemming the UI controls are very unresponsive for me in the latest Silo and Needlepoint when the visualizer is on. It looks like this could be a side-effect of the visual tweaks (FPS, repaints) that were made. Bass Mint and lo-fi-af don't seem to have the same problem.

There are a lot of apps prone to crashing when multiple instances are loaded. Even sometimes just when two are loaded. It's intensely annoying. Does anyone know the reason for it, I'm thinking @uncledave @wim etc?

Could be anything, but the most likely culprit is memory. If what I read is correct, there is only so much memory available to all instances of any given plugin. I don't know what the limitation is, but say it was 400 megabytes. If each instance took 200mb, the third would crash them all. Again, I'm not positive about this, but I believe I have read it more than once.

It isn't clear to me what "crashing" means here. I don't know if that means the plugins invalidate and have to be reloaded, or it's being said that sound starts glitching and/or UI becomes unresponsive, but the plugins are still active. The mention of higher buffers allowing more instances leads me to think that audio/UI glitching, rather than crashing, is being referred to, but I can't say. I don't know of any reason why lowering buffers would increase memory usage.

  • I didn’t get all of them first time around, but now I see the price to complete the bundle there’s no reason not to buy the others.

Thanks, i did that too, but even at 1024 the second instance makes everything crash …. Let’s hope for an update

Great answer as usual Wim, thanks. Can't speak for the OP but I was referring to the common problem of apps becoming invalidated and needing to be reloaded. I mean this defeats the whole purpose of auv3 😂

In addition to memory usage, there is some shared data space common to all the loaded instances and there have been cases where an AUv3 treated the data as belonging to only one instance when it is shared by all...leading to clobbered data/variables.

    Ditto

  • Also notice a bit of weird resizing of font going on when you first open some of the AUv3s in an AUM session

    yeah same :(

  • Phew! Alright, pouring my morning coffee and firing up the debugger to check out:
    1) Why Silo and Needlepoint are bottlenecked visually now.
    2) Why Tails crashes with multiple instances.

Tails still has a public beta up so I can quickly push out a new version there. I'll spin up new public betas for the other two which should be out tomorrow or Friday unless the App Review winds are not favorable.

  • Hi @trickyflemming,

No, we've historically had a lot of trouble getting in touch with Steinberg.

    How does it come?

    Best,
    Lars

  • @mlau Looks like they are already on it.

@trickyflemming Thank you for these great FX. Let me know if you need any further info. I'm happy to help you get things sorted.

Howdy! Nice to meet you. Yeah, it's just been difficult to maintain a stable contact.

We had a running joke, as we received 6-month developer NFR licenses whenever we reported a Cubase-specific bug with our plugins, and it seemed like those bugs would pop up every 6 months and 1 day. I ended up finally buying a perpetual license and all of our Cubase bugs vanished :D

  • Just sent in fresh betas for Needlepoint and Silo that should fix the interface choppiness. They should be available tomorrow most likely. Working on Tails fixes now.

That's really interesting. It looks like AUM is getting some out of bounds reporting of plugin latency or something. Not sure if that's something @j_liljedahl might have insight into?
