My Bad... 🍿
-
My solution against that kind of frustration is very simple: Any app that requires a registration or subscription to work properly gets deleted and is gone in seconds. No exceptions. If that means that somewhere in the future there will be no apps left that I can use, I will live with that and start reading books an playing my piano instead.
I didn't like Sampletank anyways. 😬😇
Of course the weak link in my argumentation is the app store / Apple ID...
Just to make this current since it was bumped. iRig BlueBoard manuals have been available on our web site for a long time (even before the site overhaul). Currently they can be found at https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigblueboard/index.php?p=manuals (or the "Manuals" link from the main iRig BlueBoard web page). Thanks!
Hey you were just being helpful, I wasn’t accusing you of anything.
Just to put in a good word for IKMultimedia, I had an issue recently with registering iGrand - I’d been using it for years without registering, but just wanted to get hold of the user manual.
Anyway, I emailed their support team and they sorted it really quickly.
So well done IKM, good support, and I really like both iGrand and iElectric, they’re great apps.
What? It's like doctor's waiting room. New friends, old magazines.
This thread is worth reading if only for the quotes contained within.
Locking old threads would be like closing libraries... Very silly idea.
Might as well make a new account if you can’t remember your password and want a new username.
The in-app Help Menu consists solely of the User Manual option. Tapping User Manual opens a window with the message "Please register the app in order to view the User Manual." Amending the message to include the link you provided above might be helpful. Tapping through to the online registration - doesn't include a privacy policy, or any other information related to use of personally identifiable information. Interface Guideline for iOS is clear:

The app's in-app Menu is Account/Store/Settings/Help/Rate-Review this app/Tell a Friend - 5 of the 6 menu options being marketing-oriented. And when disabling "In-App Ratings & Reviews" in the iTunes & App Store’s menu of the Settings App, the expectation is to disallow asking for product feedback requests. I realize product feedback requests are different than persistent menu options (feedback requests only allow 3 prompts in a 365 day period, and only 1 request per bundle version), but the sentiment is the same, and the menu is persistent. Ratings & Reviews, even when enabled in the Settings App, should only be asked for after engagement with the App, and subsequently "Allow at least a week or two between rating requests and only prompt again after the user has demonstrated additional engagement with your app." Additionally there is (that I can find) no contact information for Help/Support within the App.
My default reasoning is the focus being on acquiring personally identifiable information (required: Birthday, first and last name, state, and email) for in-house or 3rd party marketing purposes along with hardware sales, as the in-app Store is a hardware catalog. I don't see many other apps in the Music app category, who are also hardware providers, with in-app hardware stores.
The person with the original post, I think, has a valid frustration, and "manuals have been available on our web site for a long time" doesn't address why there is an explicit requirement in the App for registration and disclosure of personally identifiable information in order to access the User Manual. Hopefully some of my other conveyances above, and other messages in the thread, are at least worthy of conversation. and could provide a better app experience! Thanks for reading and participating here.
^ Oh. wow. @Aud_iOS lays it out pretty plain there.
Before I leave, one would wonder why some magnificent AUv3 apps get hassled and rejected multiple times on the App Submission review while stuff like this slides by with a legitimately (and deliberate) awful user experience in the app.
OK, leaving now. Off to enjoy apps that are designed to benefit the customer. Fortunately for us all there are many
