    Here’s mine for December - wintry theme but definitely not a Christmas song !

    All created within GarageBand IOS (apart from the vocals, within cakewalk / emvoice )with no external controllers

    Lyrics in the video

    The AI voice is still in the Uncanney Valley for me, it sounds like the voice from Radiohead's "Fitter Happier" has had singing lessons 😆 but the musical arrangement is very nice, and I like the way the song shifts up a gear at the four-minute mark. I would definitely like to hear this sung by a human.

    My entry for this month is a collaboration with @LinearLineman, who recently shared one of his improvisations which immediately inspired me some lyrics. It is the first time to write something like this and in this style but the lyrics came to me so quickly that I had to try to sing them despite my vocals limitations. Full of imperfections (including my cat's meowing and purring !)

    Lyrics in the spoiler

    When she smiles
    She can spread the colours
    Of a thousand rainbows
    Over stormy weather
    Yes you'll see her
    From afar

    When she smiles
    She can break the wall
    That's tearing us apart
    Light up the Northern Star
    And guide us through the dark

    When she smiles
    She can bend
    The laws of space and time
    With a pantomime
    Make the old younger
    With a laughter
    Turn a lonely winter
    To a feast of Everlasting
    Sweet neverending summer
    Oh dear, you'll know
    When you'll see her
    Glow in the dark
    With a laughter

    With her smile
    You'll end up naked as you came
    And it won't take much longer
    For you to surrender
    Yes she's much stronger
    With her laughter

    Listen to When She Smiles (Michael Levy & JanKun collaboration) by JanKun on #SoundCloud

    The vocal performance is very good, especially in a jazzy style that is technically very difficult. The piano improvisation is as excellent as you would expect from @LinearLineman and the vocals complement it nicely.

    Heartfelt lyrics and very sad story. Beautiful songwriting. A lot of great things in terms of arrangements but I agree with @richardyot regarding the AI backing vocals that kills a bit all the emotions and human feeling described in the lyrics. Definitely would like to hear a human singing this too !

    Thank you and @richardyot for the kind comments.

    Definitely agree, a true human vocal would be better - I’m using the AI to craft the songs and when I’ve got enough of them I’ll start reaching out on the island I live on, to see if there are any vocalists I can use. I think from the AI side, Lucy comes across better than Jay, but I’m hoping with a bit more practice I can tune Jay. Thanks again.

    Wow, very moving piece, the instrumentation sounds great and there is good variation to keep the interest going to the end. I love the last minute or so too. All been said re the voices, but excellent melody throughout, I enjoyed it.

    Good stuff! :D Regarding Emvoice, I downloaded and played around with it a bit in Reason but I'm about to abandon that (to expensive subscription.) and move to GB or even Logic. Emvoice starts in GB but you can'r type text. Do you happen to know a workaround? I have written the dev but no answer.

    @richardyot
    Really great tune!

    Really great tune!

    Hi, no I only used emvoice in cakewalk (free DAW) and it worked perfectly in that. I’m only using a PC DAW for the vocal track as everything else is done on an IPad. I suggest using cakewalk for emvoice and bringing its wav back into another daw.

    Thank you for the feedback. Yes, very pleased with the last minute - I like writing lead melodies :)

    great song, and composition, the vocals feels a bit static, vocal melody is good, the songwriting in this is the best part I would say, will be great to hear more songs from you

    This is a music track that I improvised on two MIDI keyboards connected to an iPad.

    I used Bome Network software to send the iPad's MIDI notes to Bitwig Studio running on a desktop PC. There the MIDI was routed to Noire for the piano, as well as Omnisphere, Augmented Voices, Lumina, Lores, and Vocalise for the background instruments. I also used Bitwig's Spectral Suite as an audio effect for the piano.

    After bringing the audio recording into Vegas Pro, I applied the Lurssen Mastering Console plug-in to the audio mix.

    It's titled Radius.

    nice soundscape as always, I havent played with bitwig spectral suite yet, Im mostly stuck in ableton (got all the features I want, and bitwig lacks some of them, but bitwig is so much fun when it comes to sound design) nice piano sound!

    great vocals and a nice song! its nice when it just flows out of you in the moment, usually the best songs!

  • @richardyot A nice romantic vintage with a beautiful flight at 3'.

    @DavidEnglish The sounds are beautiful and unfold in elegant spatial volutes. Velvet to the ears.

    @martinsa82 A very pleasant walk on the two legs of the piano and the double bass. Serene.

    @BillS A very cheerful song that whets the appetite and makes you want to toast! There's a southern feel to this guitar and the beautiful vegetables of the sun cooking on your grill! I share the reference to Ian Anderson and his flute would find a natural place in your music.

    @matdun25848834 It is a very beautiful song. The voices sound synthetic of course but are nevertheless convincing. The chorus combining the male and female voices are superb.

    @JanKun The simple beauty: piano-voice. Your voice is superb in this jazz register.

    The contributions this month seem to me extraordinarily lyrical-poetic. Who dares to do death metal next year? :-)

  • @richardyot
    Really like the humming-like background singing in the first part of the song. Seems to naturally evolve into the deep-synth sound in the middle of the piece. The lyrics and instrumentation are also excellent with this one.

    @Kitusai
    What a great combination of music and visuals. They superbly complement each other. The liquid quality of the music fits right in with the underwater visuals. Bravo!

    @martinsa82
    A very relaxing rainy-day tune. Excellent piano playing and quality of sound. Well balanced with just a hint of what sounds like a bass guitar.

    @BillS
    A thoughtful, lighthearted song with outstanding guitar work. I’m really digging the restrained, intelligent humor in your songs.

    @matdun25848834
    Very polished song with excellent production values and orchestration. The lyrics and core melody are especially strong.

    @JanKun
    This is way cool. It has a relaxed, contemplative feel. Though seemingly casual in tone, both the music and lyrics are well centered. (Is that baby babble I hear at the 1:43 mark? If it’s a “mistake,” you should leave it in.)
