Late to the party. I don't know if your initial intention was to mock some conceptual modern music or question our conception of art. Maybe your goal was just to have fun. In any case, well done, it is an interesting thread, thank you.

Is that music, to me yes. For a 2:30 piece, I find it interesting and not boring (ten more minutes and I might tell you something completely different)
Is that art? Some might disagree here, but I would dare to call Controlled randomness a form of art in itself, someone brilliantly mentioned J.Pollock. without randomness the world as we know it wouldn't hold. It is everywhere in our life up until the smallest particles composing the matter of our own bodies. So composing odes to randomness makes perfect sense to me artistically. John Cage was a brilliant mind. You're a brilliant mind too, Tony.

Someone else invoked Picasso to dismiss this piece and almost calling it fraud. I would answer that Art and fraud don't necessarily exclude each other, because these are both subjective concepts. Someone might be happy to spend a fortune on a Lamborghini and call it a piece of art. I don't have the slightest Interest in cars, no matter their price, so it looks like a fraud to me. It is just a matter of subjective perception. No one holds the one and only truth when it comes to art. Coming back to Picasso, he was indeed a great artist and very skilled, no doubt about it but, I personally consider him as a fraudulent one because I couldn't care less about this cubism thing. And on top of that, he was a terrible (un)human being, check Dora Maar's biography. I grew to despise Picasso the man, so much and what he represents in the modern world of art, that I wouldn't mind throwing tomato soup on his paintings, even without protective frame and glass. 🤣😄🤣
Provocation is also a form of art in itself. I sensed a good amount of Dadaism in your post.

@Stochastically mentioned something interesting about quantum field. Maybe this is the kind of sound one can hear when being dead and alive at the same time 😜

    What do you think?

    Art by AI…

Details of how it was produced are in this video…

No earworm here to say the least. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for the great comment @JanKun. I’m not somebody who overthinks my actions either before or after so it was basically an experiment in what I could do with a few basic apps and LFOs that I though was interesting and thought might be of interest to others. The question re music more or less came to me as I posted it.
Re conceptual music and art, I don’t really have a problem with it until the musician or artist starts to come up with some grandiose justification and waffle for say, a pile of bricks 😊
Interesting distinction between music and art which I hadn’t really considered. I think your line ‘ No one holds the one and only truth when it comes to art.’ is spot on… it always amuses me when somebody states a view as if it is the only valid one.
Sadly I think great artists / musicians / creators , call them whatever you want, are as varied as the rest of humanity… there’s good uns and bad uns!
As regards having a brilliant mind I think that applies to most if not all of the organisms on this tiny little planet sitting in a quadrant of the galaxy called ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha.

All of the earworms around here @Montreal_Music are frozen underground … -8 this morning 🥶
