Does this app support step recording ? All I can see is that I have to choose the position of every single step manually, and that there seems to be no auto advance of the input cursor/position. I hope I’m wrong, because that’s a very clumsy way of entering notes into a sequencer.

Seems to be no auto advance

Version history shows it now has auto advance.

    Anyone have this?

Yes, it has this now, but only when pressing the step entry button. So you still have to press two keys (the note on the keyboard, and the entry button). I contacted Achillefs, the developer about this, and we might get proper step recording. He is very open to feedback.

Ah that's a deal breaker. Thanks!

  • Achilleas did it: mKer 1.1.1 came out this morning. With full step recording!

Do you have drambo? Wondering how ppl like this in comparison to the drambo sequencer.

I have Drambo and like and use it very much. I cannot say one is better than the other. mKer has a pure sequencer UI with many directly accessible functions. This and the lane grouping make it a great sequencer for jamming. Specially when you like monophonic Berlin School sequences. On the other hand you have Drambos generative features like the step jumping and other per step options, polyphony and and….

so can this be used in an arppegiator mode? or is the keyboard at the bottom just for note input into the sequencer?

Just reading through the manual as we speak. I think it is only for note input and my first impression is that this is more aimed at drums than melody but as I get deeper into the manual may be proved wrong in this. It's very powerful. I'd need to spend more time with it before deciding what I think of the workflow

Is the manual built into the app? I've been looking for it online, as I don't yet have the app. I've been looking for an iPad sequencer, and this might just be the one.
