  • Sweet. Curious to see the price point on this…

  • That looks cool!

  • Heads up, this is an "influencer" plugin so there might be a "influencer" tax.

Instabuy. I’ve got all the Drums That Knock sample packs and the most recent, DTK X comes with Knock presets 😎 Supa’ ready for this release!

  • 9.99 = yes
    19.99+ = no

Lol, I have the desktop version, that’s why it’s an instabuy for me. Many times I thought I needed to replace a snare or a kick or even a drum loop and all I needed was this. I can’t believe it’s coming to IOS

Knock rocks. Super simple, very effective.

  • Any more owner thoughts on this one? This is another one with a larger than we’re used to (for an effect) price tag - £30 in the UK.
Is it a must have? A bit overrated?

I find it overrated, and not worth what I paid for it. YMMV, of course, but it just doesn’t provide as focused or as dramatic a result as I was led to expect.

Must have from day one for me. It’s got that special sauce. I use it to add KNOCK to my drums and sometimes add umpff to bass lines. Not for everyone, highly recommended for hip hop heads!

  • It's pricy but it is truly excellent at what it does and just incredibly easy to dial in

After a couple of months with it, I find that I prefer Beef over Knock. I'm not knocking Knock. It's an amazing plugin and was worth dropping 30 quid for it, but I'd buy Beef first by @CaelumAudio . It's what I use on my beats.

  • Yeah, if short of cash, Beef is more bang for your buck, despite missing things like the tuneable subbass, which I'd imagine is important for some. In certain other ways though, Beef is more flexible, though you might also spend a bit more time dialing things in as a result.

  • @Gavinski @robosardine

I do think the tuneable sub in Knock is cool, but I can use a synth to make my own subs or synth bass, or use an 808 sample, or use an 808 preset in Pure Synth Platinum 2, or use LE01 Bass 808 synth (though I think it's no longer for sale as it was a limited edition app by AudioKit). 😂 Yeah I'm both a professional musician and professional control freak in the studio lol.

(I'm a bit of a daft punk (I'll see myself out 🤣), but I don't recall being able to feed Knock MIDI notes to change the pitch of the sub, let alone get those sliding 808s.)

Beef is a little more flexible as mentioned, and yeah Robo you may find yourself fiddling with the knobs a bit more, but like Knock, everything is on one page, no menu diving required. Beef has a little more of a learning curve, but it's still an easy learning curve. You really don't need a manual as it lends itself perfectly to being fiddled with. (Just don't fiddle with your Beef too much while in a shared studio or you'll get some strange looks. 🤣 )

I think Knock is supposed to be a bit more subtle to add a "secret sauce" on your drum buss rather than, say, using Woott for extreme NY styled compression. I also believe Knock is aimed more for professionals than hobbyists.

But as a professional musician who produces HipHop beats, I prefer Beef. ( @Stuntman_mike Sorry mate, I tried to like Knock, but it just isn't exactly my cup of tea.)

The rappers I've worked with love the way my drums sound (besides the instrumental choices I make). Beef has more oomph to it in my opinion and has the friendlier price tag.

I have a mate (not on this forum) who does various mashups. Some of his mashups do sound rubbish mixwise, and he's a bit of a narcissist. I try to advise him on how to improve his mixes, and he never listens. 👎 So I did this with Beef...

...and basically added low end and better punch, and it pissed him off. 😂

Where was I? Right, if you have deep pockets @robosardine I'd say get both Beef and Knock and draw your own conclusions. But between the two, I still prefer Beef. Just like when I produce Ambient FAC Alteza is my goto despite me also having the pricey but beautiful Baby Audio Crystalline in my Ambient toolkit. 😂

  • I’ve tried it out on desktop and it’s cool but I’m a control freak and still prefer my own effects chains even if it takes more time but that’s just me. It does get nice results quick though but I’m also more of a Beef fan. If we start getting some serious channel strips on iOS like on desktop though I’ll drop whatever money they want for it

True, I'm definitely not implying Beef is difficult to learn or use, as you say it's very intuitive! It's just not 5 or whatever big knobs the way Knock is. Beef is great though and well worth having

I wonder if knock can me made in Drambo

    Edit: something like:

    • compressor for punch
    • shaper for saturator
    • oscillator (with some sort of audio to midi generator??) for the tunable sub
    • noise generator or eq for air (not sure what that knob does?)
    • limiter for clip (not even sure if Drambo has a limiter built in)

I’m guessing really but might have a crack at making something along these lines

  • I’m not short of cash - but not rolling in it either. I have bought several apps previously that I haven’t taken to - but I wasn’t wanting to take the risk with £30 only for it not to work out quite as I hoped. You only have to do that a few times and you are the best part of £100 down the cludgie. I wish more apps came with limited demos - especially at this price.
I was thinking of using it on Ampify Groovebox’s drums in the main. I find them a little tame and in need of a bit of a boost, though I like the variety & generation aspect. Anyone tried it on this?
I have Beef and Woot already so I may just end up sticking with them.
What was the app a while ago with the video ‘coming soon’ teaser of a sound going ‘knock knock’ several times. It wasn’t this one I’m sure. It’s annoying me - I just can’t remember what it was.

  • That was Fosfat I think, by Klevgrand?

I think that might be the one @Gavinski. I’m not sure though - I just looked at the teaser video and it’s not as I remember it. The way I do remember it was simply a series of ‘knock knock’ sounds evolving slightly over time - but absolutely nothing else in the background, a little spooky. I’ll check out Fosfat though in any case - that one passed me by.

  • Mmm, might have been for Rum or Pana too, can't remember but I'm sure someone will
