I’m currently using Lumafusion for my video projects. Does this offer something new or different? Better in the color correction department I’m assuming?
That’s the theory…however my first impression thus far is that Lumafusion is a bit more flexible interface wise. However default effects and titles etc in Davinci are more polished and less dated.
Well, I decided to download it as it’s free…I couldn’t find the IAP’s? I agree with you about the titles and effects in Davinci, much more modern. Unfortunately, it’s a bit clunky on my iPad Air 4 (as in, kinda unusable). The developer was right about it being made for the M1/M2 chip! Lol
Be saving up for the IAP
Lumafusion doesn't require me to update anything to iPadOS/iOS 16. It also features "storyblocks" subscription for stock assets. Not sure if Resolve has its own library of assets.
The fact that I can use the same project file on my MacBook in a full editing suite to the app version on iPad has sold me. I’ve been working on a small project and all my footage and effects came over with no problems. Both versions are the free version of Resolve

Although LumaFusion can run on a Mac, it’s not ideal in my opinion. Also the work you do inside of it does not translate to other editing programs well.
Woohoo!
Does this not link into your photos app ? Would thought that would be a basic requirement? How does one get to that via files app?
Cheers @realdawei Blonde Moment my end see the IAP show up if you select certain effects.
In the desktop app you can really easily get by using the free version, so I'm guessing the same applies on iPad OS. The IAP just unlocks some additional effects.
Yup! Advanced features for professionals will be available in the Studio upgrade which includes FX plugins, multiuser projects, and more advanced features. Resolve has been well known as a strong, free product on desktop for years so no need to purchase Studio if you don’t need it. This release is a great step to open doors for others 🤩
Shame it’s not available for 2nd gen Pro, but I don’t really need it so not a problem…does it support AUv3 plugins?
This for me is the proof that Apple doesn’t want it‘s pro apps to be on iPad. Or is just lazy.
What an amazing piece of software this is!
Mac "Pro Apps" drive high end, desktop sales. $$$$s![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smiley.png)
No it doesn’t yet.
Yep 🤑
Looks like there’s a way to hack the whole resolve enchilada using shortcuts…kinda huge
That is huge.
Finally somthing that seems to be THE video app for iPad. LumaFusion has been ok-ish, but with some serious limitations. I hope I can let it go now.
It's huge indeed...
...what would be interesting to know is how long they have been working on the iPad 'port' this?
If it's <6 months we can only hope that more apps of this caliber will pop up during 2023!
If you guys look up on YouTube how to unlock resolve features for free, someone figured out hoe to get the extras with the shortcut menu. You just have to assign the locked pages/edits to hot keys
Edit: im dumb and jumped the gun. Seems you guys noticed this already
Really surprised, and disappointed, that existing desktop Resolve license holders do not get an unlock of the premium features. Let's see how that hack works eh?
The in-app purchase hasn’t been enabled and the trick 👆 in the video above works. Perhaps once Davinci adds the in-app purchase it will be universal 🙏🏻
I do hope so as I shelled out to a desktop Studio licence. Interested to see how long the hack works for. Also weird that the iap isnt enabled as it’s listed in the store listing.
I really hope the davinci move to iPad will pay out for them. It’s a major step and hopefully enough users will jump onboard and pay for it. Otherwise the iPad remains in “nice addition to a Mac” territory.
The IAP prompt will trigger when clicking on one of the studio only effects.
