Gotta be one of the more underrated devs on iOS I’d say. Don’t see them mentioned much but Electrogene and Vatanator are 2 of my favorites. Vatanator 2 is a little buggy but still great and very powerful. I prefer it over BM3.

i’ve been really interested in Vatanator. would you say that it’s redundant if i already have and use Hammerhead?

I’d say no. Vatanator is really focused on vintage, lofi, weird, unique, etc snd really excels in that. It feels like having a collection of a ton of classic and obscure old drum machines. Hammerhead is my favorite overall drum app though, so I’m biased there, but Vatanator is pretty close to the top as well. And both have a decent effects and modulation options.

I saw a little demo somewhere, but it doesn’t seem to mention which drum machines? How are the samples, I have a lot of samples but it’s always such a hassle to bring ‘m all together and make kits. This seems nice. No decay/pitch options for the samples?

@hotstrange When you mentioned Vat 2, is that the same as Vat pro? I have the reg Vatanator*, and like it but for the afore-mentioned bugginess, which has made me tentatively anti-pro

    *Aka "Vanator" in Oct0chron.

Thinking of picking up beatmaker 3 but have read a lot of adverse comments regarding bugs and lack of support/future updates. Would welcome anyone’s views

The general consensus is that it is still unmatched for sampling/beatmaking and also has really decent DAW capabilities (Auv3 support, etc.) I still use it regularly. It is like having a really, really portable/light MPC One. Checkout recent Youtube videos for more confirmation: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=beatmaker+3&sp=CAI%3D

  • @HotStrange Thank you! I got it and must say you’re spot on about how it feels like a library of obscure drum machines. Lovely! It’s perfect alongside HH imo 😁

There are 140 kits with some having more than 1 samples for a kit piece (ie. 8 options for kick). No direct links to IRL equivalents but sounds amazing imo, lots of variety. The built-in sequencer isn’t in the AU I think, but it’s still pretty great when used with a midi sequencer. Using your own samples seems straightforward and less intimidating than DrumComputer. There are pitch options for both the whole kit or individual sample. A basic envelope but no decay. Hope this helps!

I bought it, Vatanator is indeed a cool little app. I like the way how crips/lofi you can make it sound. It has definitely its own vintage box type of sound color. A bit of a hassle to get sounds into it.
