  • Despite my trepidation at buying yet another audiokit app I'm pleasantly surprised at how nice this one is, there some really good useable presets in there off the bat.. can't grumble for the price..

Now, to really tickle my retro, I want a BBC Micro rompler. Had one from the age of 8. I remember thinking that Citadel had the coolest graphics ever. A quick search on YouTube reminded me how far we've come since then 😂

LOL, I'm definitely happy I grew up with a C64 playing Monty on the Run :sunglasses:

  • Problem - it does not save its state in AUM for me. Has anyone else encountered this?

it didn't do that either on nanostudio2

It’s not saving the state in GarageBand, either. If I record a track with Saga, close GarageBand, and open GarageBand back up, the preset isn’t persisted. The track I recorded sounds like the preset that I used — it doesn’t go back to the init preset — so it’s not a huge deal breaker. But it’s annoying.

I recall state saving being a problem with at least one other AudioKit app (Retro Piano; maybe Digitalism).

Has this been reported to @cem_olcay?

I already let Matt know, and he says the fix will come out soon, likely next week. I can tell lots of love and labour went into this plugin already, but state saving will indeed be fixed.

  • I’m a sucker for these unique ROMpler. Excited to sample stuff into the 404. Loving it so far but I have had a crash. And maybe I’m dumb but I can’t figure the sequencer out lol

  • This really has a lot of great sounds and I really like how much further I can take them with all the effects. They really hit it out the park with this and VHS

    Absolutely! Both are incredible synths!

Yeah, it is generally pretty stable, but I have had one crash so far. Report anything to AudioKit, would be best, with details of device, OS, host app etc

The sequencer couldn't be simpler! Just put in zero, for no change in the note you play, positive values for increases in semitones, negative values for decreases in semitones. Just remember that for the sequencer to work the host transport must be running, if using as AUv3!

I figured it out moments after commenting. I didn’t pull the keyboard down to reveal the controls 😂 thanks though!

It was also like that in the "AudioTune" app, which ended up being completely worthless since it didn't save settings. Only time I ever requested (and received) a refund

I vaguely remember encountering the same problem with ”AudioTune.” I do still use that app — but not what it’s intended for. When I’m sketching out potential melodies for a track, I’ll load up “AudioTune” as an AUV3 on the GarageBand track, and then look at the AudioTune interface while I’m trying out melodies. It lets me know which notes I’m singing, so I can ultimately try out some different melodies for songs. Maybe I’ll try it as an actual auto-tune the next time I cut vocals and see if the bug is fixed…

    Nice idea!

  • New update with a new free sound pack…and the new pack seems to glitch on me…the sounds keep getting stuck, and when changing presets it’s not quiet….it’s like changing presets is causing it to get hung up. That’s in standalone mode…havent tried AU yet but now I’m a bit apprehensive

It's still doing it as an AU as well, so it might need to be fixed

It's working ok for me, the patch changes sound are because of the long reverb tails that some preset have.

They literally aren’t stopping for me , though. I can hit the midi panic button til my finger bruises and it keeps going . I have to change to a different bank to get them to stop. I’ll check in AU to see if the midi panic button works there

  • That’s not nice, you should report it

Is this with an external controller?

On iPhone 8 there seems to be a dead zone at the bottom of the screen. Anybody else have that issue?

Also, I was wondering, are there vibrato settings anywhere? Is vibrato only accessible via mod wheel, can I not have it on all the time?

and when changing presets it’s not quiet….it’s like changing presets is causing it to get hung up.

Hehe I actually like these sounds, was already thinking about sampling them as FX sounds 😅 I’d assume they are caused by the instantaneous change in delay settings when you switch presets. But in my case it’s really just a second of harsh noise that will reverberate around for a while, but it doesn’t get stuck forever

Good call! I’m not a chip tune person, but I’m immediately getting some great Lo-Fi doom ( ;) ) out of this. For the intro price, it’s a steal. Also: great to see you credited as one of the sound designers, @Gavinski - loving your work :)

Thnx Irena! I had fun making those presets. I think that intro price is gonna finish very soon btw, if it hasn't already!

I snagged the deal. Your post is the first I knew about it, which for some reason I only saw this morning… Las day for it! Working on something cheery with it right now. (Drop the octave, crank up the ADSR, slow the tempo, and drown in Wires, Springs and Bubbles… luvverly!)

Mmmm, looking forward to your first track with this. Give it a cthulu reference for a name 😉

    No, it’s with the phone

Not a big seam for me as I prefer the sound of the other banks better anyway but still
