What's your favorite mastering app?
I haven't purchased any mastering app so far, want to know what is the most used one, what other apps have you added to your final process. Probably fabfilters will be leading but let's see.

FF Pro-L2 and MB would be my choice if needed
for me it depends on the style of music!
Mixbox CS. If you need more, your are weird :-)
Usually depends on the genre/effect I'm trying to achieve, but my main staples are MagicDeathEyeStereo, Barricade, and Youlean's Loudness Meter. These are used on every one of my masters.
MixBox for mastering??? Nah, dawg.
Grand Finale 2
tonebooster eq with the helper curves -> tone booster barricade, that's it
I'm also interested in that app! How did you find it so far?
Cubasis and the FF Pro-L2 and Pro-EQ here.
Also a very good tip to master garageband stuff or already exported wav files is using wavebox, it applies the AUv3 lightning fast.
Toneboosters eq4 and Barricade4 here too.
Sometimes with Toneboosters Reelbus, but seem to be using that less lately.
All run within Audio Evolution Mobile.
Occasionally my mixdown (SunVox export) is smashed so hard that I just call it a day right there.
See, THAT'S why private beta testers sign that NDA 😄
I also got into mastering with Trinity. I didn’t know how bad my tracks sounded before I started playing with it
It’s dead simple to make an average mix sound good. And it’s beautifully designed and fits my workflow perfectly. The big plus is the reference track you can use to give some or other colour to your mix.
Curious if you would suggest any additional helpers for those of us that don’t have well trained ears…
Even when I use a reference track my ears can’t get me where I’d like.
I just use the Toneboosters stuff but I’m no expert
Grand Finale 2 in standalone or as an Au on master bus, as of the last 3 months or so. Or a master bus with TB Barricade TB EQ, etc, or Bark Filter with triple band preset.
Me too except I’m really starting to like Trinity
i use ferrite pro with FF plugins…. but like less than 5 percent of anything i’ve ever mastered in my life. The few that came out good were pure luck.
Ah, I sometimes miss using that plugin. A great way to add a bit of sauce to a signal.
This is such a helpful thread.
I have Grand Finale 1. Do I need to upgrade to Grand Finale 2?
If I do, would I need any additional tools?
I bought Trinity when it came out, and wish to learn to use that. It's a bit of a leap for me, but a lot of people seem to be finding it a helpful mastering tool.
Thanks for your purchase!
The official guide gives a good overview of what a typical mastering session in Trinity might look like:

If you have any questions, just head over to the Trinity thread and I'll try to help 👍
Thanks! That's really helpful.
Best advice I can give is less is more, and don’t apply any processing or plugins during mastering unless YOU hear a need for it. In my experience a lot of people struggling with mastering are just trying to do way more to the song than it needs because they read some random tutorial online that told them to.
If you have more specific questions let me know though, happy help if I can.
Yep, i'm starting to use it in every instrument, I start with the 3 band preset and then add a couple bands by hand so I end up with a 3 to 8 band compressor, it make instruments pop
TB equalizer literally gives you a hint EQ curve depending on the genre you select
It's quite nice but it would be even cooler if it could actually create the EQ curve as well...
...I mean it already draws the line after the analysis/calculations so it could equally well populate it with a few points to match the curve
(I know I'm 'lazy').
I get along real well with Igor Vasiliev’s Audio Mastering. It’s well laid out and has a decent bunch of presets.
In contrast Trinity that I just purchased feels a bit cryptic. I know it’s likely the fact that I don’t want to put in the time to learn the app but maybe that’s what I look it apps: immediacy and ease of operation. Audio Mastering has that nailed.
