That's easy. All you need to do is change the Arp play mode to "As played", activate Hold (+) on the keyboard and play the notes in the order you want them.

Thanks, it works! The only caveat is that the keyboard in drambo gets locked for all the tracks so I can't use it in any other track... I mean, when using that rack, any other track is unusable as I can't input notes because the keyboard is in use by the holded notes.

No prob. Add a MIDI => Latch module as the first module in the track, set its mode to "Toggle" and activate the Latch button instead of keyboard hold.
Voilà, you now have your track-specific keyboard hold.

Another question... Once you have the sequence advancing steps per triggers on the other track... Is there any way to transpose the sequence? Like you would do in the sh101 pressing the "transpose" button while pressing any key in the keyboard

Sure, since your keyboard is now free again, I'd suggest switching the Track MIDI Input (Module) setting to
    "Mode" = Transposes.

    🙏 Thanks!

    You're welcome. Enjoy!

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I can't make the "latch" module work 😔

I made a 1 minute video showing all the process, the settings on track 1 and 2, how it does work when "holding" notes in the keyboard and then how it does not work when adding the latch module....

I'm a bit lost here so a last bit of support would be greatly appreciated :) thanks!!

@pbrian You'll need to disconnect the Arp Gate input, otherwise the Arp will only advance with each note played on the keyboard (or, coming from the sequencer/MIDI2CV).

Which would be a nice option btw:
If you keep your patch as-is and connect the first MIDI2CV to the track's MIDI port, you can not only define the arp sequence but also its rhythm, by placing any notes on the step sequencer (just tap on where you want the next note to be triggered) 😉

I can't make the first option work :( . When disconnecting the gate input all I get is the arp triggering even without notes input.

As for the second option, it is almost there! :) The only caveat is that, as the latch module is set to "toggle" the sequence only advance on alternate notes on the step sequencer! I mean, let's say I have 4 steps enabled in the step sequencer, then the sequence only advance on step 1 and 3 (since steps 2 and 4 are "toggled" to note off, I guess). Is there any way to workaround that?

Thank you again and I'm sorry this is taking more trial and error than expected :'(

  • @pbrian Make sure you're also connecting the Amp Env Gate to the correct MIDI2CV Gate (in your vid it's the leftmost one that processes notes from the track)!

Hi! Yes! Finally! connecting the amp env gate to the right midi2cv worked :) just one note, in order to advance only one note per step, the arp gate input must be connected to the midi2cv but when disconnected it advances all the notes in the sequence per step which is a super cool effect! B) thanks for that!

And maybe just the icing on the cake would be to have the ability to transpose the sequence pressing a key in the keyboard, right now when pressing a key it gets added to the arp/sequence even if the track midi input (module) is set to "transpose", I recorded a video showing that it work but as you can see in 0:51 when trying to transpose the sequence the note gets added to the sequence instead of transpose it. Any idea? Sorry for keep coming back for your help so much 🙏

@pbrian Yes, that's because the setting affects sequencer recording but not the Latch module or any other module on the same track.
Got no time now but I'll think about a solution later.
Basically, you'll need some kind of switch to tell Drambo whether to use the keyboard for latching Arp notes or for transposing the Arp riff.
MIDI switches can be built by either MIDI Mixer with mutes or by chaining MIDI Channel Filters in "Set" and "Filter" modes.
