Madrona Labs has a 30% off sale at the moment. It doesn’t say anything on the site, but is applied automatically to your shopping basket
A bunch of free plugins and stuff.
Grey is a really nice freebie. I don’t have the 160 but I have a 163x and it really does give that dbx vca sound super well. Their newer tech has been really nice, the compressors have really improved a lot
A few new freebies
Last week I’ve bought Virta and Kaivo, it also reminded me of the free monophonic Aalto that you get with Computer Music Magazine.
I’ve had my eye on Kiavo for a while, and I bought it this week. I love it.
I too have long unsated gas for Kaivo, sits anything know when this sale ends?
Not sure how much longer their sale is going on but KIT plugins are top notch. I got their core compressor and eq and am really impressed. The eq hits really clean boosts like a SSL eq would. Their Neve emulations are fantastic too
That reminds me of the analog modeled plugins by Analog Obsession. They don’t charge, but you can support them on Patreon if you’d like

Does anyone have an opinion on how these compare to some of the (by comparison) much more expensive emulations out there?
They've been a mixed bag for me. I've had lots of crashes in the past with their plugins, so you sort of "get what you pay for" when you take anything for free. There's arguably less recourse for damages if something goes seriously wrong for downloading stray software onto your desktop system. And having said that, a synth developer like "Full Bucket Music" has largely worked out fairly well for me, despite their software also being free. And even Full Bucket software hasn't been without their own share of problems in the past.
I guess the long and short of it is... you're taking a bigger risk, but things might also work out well for you. (shrug)
There's now a shiny new thread for 2024...

I take it you don’t subscribe to the Paul Third rants?
I don’t care for him
