Choric by Caelum Audio - Released With Intro Discount

Hi Everyone,

We have just released Choric! Thanks to everyone that helped us test this. Really excited to get this out to the world! There is a 30% off discount on iOS for the first two weeks.

Our page: https://www.caelumaudio.com/CaelumAudio/?Page=Choric
App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/choric/id6444959012

•Produce thick, rich chorus textures with up to 32 voices.
•Explore traditional chorus sounds and natural, realistic unisons.
•Add movement to your music with unique modulation shapes.
•Enjoy the straightforward, elegant design in your new, powerful chorus effect.

Control whether the whole signal or a specific frequency range is affected using a Low-Pass, Band-Pass or High-Pass filter. Refine it further with 'Cutoff' and 'Resonance' control. Add texture by pitch shifting your incoming audio from -12 to + 12 semitones, retain character with 'Preserve Formants' and balance the dry/wet signal using 'Pitch Amount'. With 2 to 32 powerful voices, use 'Rate' to set speed, 'Phase' to spread modulation phase and 'Depth' to set intensity. Spread the timing of the voices using 'Looseness'. Use 'Spread' to to pan voices over the stereo field, 'Flip CH' to invert modulation in the right channel and use 'Width' to apply mid/side widening. Add some character with 'Warm' mode; bringing 3.5dB of analogue saturation. Engage 'Dark' mode to roll off the high frequencies of the audio. Choric works fantastically in a variety of uses and comes jam-packed with 50 presets in Classic, Guitar, Keys, Synth, Vocal and Misc Folders.

Cheers,
David and Gabriel

  • This sounds lovely! What a power tool. I'd love to hear more demos of it, especially for keys, synth and guitar. The voice sounds fab.

@CaelumAudio, for the U.S. app store, you may want to change the "30% off intro discount (Ends: 10/02/2023)" line.

I think the European way is more logical (day/month/year), but the U.S. usually goes with month/day/year. Or put another way, people in the U.S. are going to think the discount ends on October 2 rather than February 10.

Perhaps "30% off intro discount (Ends: February 10, 2023)" would be a better fit for the U.S. app store.

Thanks for the demos/reviews. I wasn't sold for my own use, until Gavinski's. When I saw Fundamental up there, it raised the possibilities for me immensely.

  • Stupid good for turning boring or “simple” sounds into modulating drifting ear candy

No worries, glad Gavinski's video was useful. I think its difficult to create a demo release video that suits everyones music taste/style!

I assume you were on the beta too? If so, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Where is Choric fitting into your workflow?

I'd love to hear how people are using Choric. It's quite possibly my favourite plugin we've made yet!

Nope, wasn't on the beta (I don't do betas) but I've been waiting eagerly since @Gavinski did his video on this... :)
I'm not going to use it as a standard chorus effect but rather as a way to get weird modulations...it should fit my ambient style very well...

  • Was on the beta for this and like his other apps, this one is also awesome and totally worth it.

  • I really like it. Rare that another chorus besides FAC is worth having.

  • The Bleass chorus is pretty cool too, in its own way. I would love it if Choric had some built in lfos!

  • Made a demo with synths, drums, guitars (built-in presets and a bunch of my own), if anyone wants to check.

    It's also a Giveaway video.

  • I can’t seem to save my patch. I hit the save icon and thenI type in the name, but I can’t save the patch by hitting return. Am I missing something? Sounds great, btw…

This is actually possible but it doesn’t work well. Pressing return doesn’t work @CaelumAudio, though it seems it should, but it you minimize the onscreen keyboard and press save, it should work

  • Sounds great, but I'm OK with my FAC Chorus and BLEASS Chorus options for now. Having said that, I still hope they sell a lot of these apps, though.

  • Bought it after watching nutrix’s review, I love most of caelum audio’s plugins, they’re pretty much a blind buy for me, haven’t been disappointed yet.

what are the 2 plugin instances next to Playbeat in the beginning of your video?

I see now that I goofed. I was in a dark room and didn’t see the word “save”. @CaelumAudio - could the “save” text be brightened a bit?

It's Bleass' Megalit. Oh and also, it's not Playbeat, it's Loopmix. Really hard to tell the difference from their icons.

Can anyone figure out if there is a way to batch import / export presets in Choric iOS version?

Don’t see any folder they can be added to, unless I missed it, and there is definitely no function available in-app. Also seems to lack any ability to have user subfolders

    ???

I am sure, it has. (As the chorus per definition is an LFO based pitch modulation effect ).
I mean, this thing and all its exposed controls is all about the LFOs. ^^

You misunderstand Jens - obviously I mean inbuilt lfos that could be assigned to any parameter such as width, looseness, pitch etc. Look at the way Bleass implement assignable lfos in their recent apps, for example

  • Sure, but inbuilt lfos are always nice for preset designers. Again, just pointing out that people like having the inbuilt ones in the Bleass fx apps
Choric is a great app nevertheless.

    jason said:
Yes. I know what you mean. But the pitch is already connected to the internal LFOs.
Would this make any sense to have macro LFOs ? For what we have parameter automation?
    I am not that sure.

    😃

Has Choric MIDI control? This would make sense for such.
Otherwise, with hosts that allow MIDI control connecting to parameters would make this possible.

I think the unit is nicely designed the way it is.
