Can anyone figure out if there is a way to batch import / export presets in Choric iOS version?

Don’t see any folder they can be added to, unless I missed it, and there is definitely no function available in-app. Also seems to lack any ability to have user subfolders

To find the inbuilt preset manager please tap the information icon in the top right of Choric's interface.

Creating and Putting Presets in a Preset Sub-Folder
    1. Within the preset manager tap "Create Folder".
    2. Give your folder a name and tap "Create".
    3. Tap the preset you wish to move into the folder, tap "Move" (this button will then become green) and then tap the folder you would like to move the preset to. The presets will now be in this folder.

    Exporting Presets
    1. Within the preset manager select the folder or preset you wish to share.
    2. Tap "Share".
    3. Share to Files or any other preferred share option within iOS.

    Importing Presets
    1. Select the folder you want to import presets into.
    2. Tap "Import".
    3. Select the preset files within the file browser that you want to import and tap open. The presets will now be in this folder.

Note: there is currently an issue with importing presets which is fixed in v1.0.1 - currently going through App Store review.

This is the first time we have built a preset manager so feedback is welcomed. It was a request during the beta but we received limited feedback on this feature.

    Been waiting for this one...instabuy...

I assume you were on the beta too? If so, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Where is Choric fitting into your workflow?

I'd love to hear how people are using Choric. It's quite possibly my favourite plugin we've made yet!

    David

Nope, wasn't on the beta (I don't do betas) but I've been waiting eagerly since @Gavinski did his video on this... :)
I'm not going to use it as a standard chorus effect but rather as a way to get weird modulations...it should fit my ambient style very well...

Sounds interesting! I would be interested to hear what you create with it!

This is actually possible but it doesn’t work well. Pressing return doesn’t work @CaelumAudio, though it seems it should, but it you minimize the onscreen keyboard and press save, it should work

I agree, this should work and is on my device... I have updated JUCE for v1.0.1 though so maybe that has fixed this. @ALB if this isn't fixed for you once 1.0.1 comes out could you please send me a message so I can get that worked out.

  • Thanks for all that David! @CaelumAudio. Do you reckon you guys might go back and add preset managers to your previous releases?

Quite possibly, I made it with the view that it should be easy to do. I would like to make sure to get it right first though.

    Nice! It does that well!

I’ve now been sent the first user made preset pack that I have seen! If anyone prefers to use presets and the inbuilt ones aren’t enough for you then give this a try:

    David

  • this is brilliant: start with Guitar > Slapback Placement, lower the mix to maybe 12% and increase the voices. this gives amazing presence to a source when used in front of an ambience reverb. more voices for greater distance & space.

but... >14ms latency is a problem when using Choric as an insert on live sources. i can sometimes work around this by mixing dry/wet externally. any chance of a low latency mode @CaelumAudio?

  • Here are the presets I made for guitars, if you're interested. I demo them at this point in my video.

  • As usual, I can't figure out how to get these new presets into the app. Can you please explain @CaelumAudio .

iOS file management is a FARCE.

When you click on one of the presets - 2 options appear at the bottom: 'Select All' and 'Deselect All'. If it won't work, dm me, I'll make you a video.

I just released a bug fix (v1.0.3). I got caught out by the half sample rate of GarageBands inbuilt sample instruments... Garageband's 22050Hz sample rate was making a filter explode as its cutoff is above nyquist at that low sample rate :s

This is definitely a possibility but it would have to be a version without the pitch shifting. That is the main source of latency.

@CaelumAudio: could latency just be reduced to minimum whenever pitch shifting is off? i know it can be tricky to change latency while an fx is active.

and... could there be an option to leave the dry signal undelayed and report 0 latency to the host? having wet a bit delayed often doesn't matter. latency playing live through ipad fx is barely tolerable. every little bit helps.

It doesn’t. I’m still on os15 - could it be that? I’ve had my iPad for 2 years now and I’ve never seen that “select all” option.

An ongoing mystery to me, iOS file management. On my MacBook moving files around , finding stuff is all so simple. Drag n drop. It’s Fisher Price. On an iPad it feels like some goon at Apple said
‘ hey! Let’s make this as UNintuitive as we possibly can’.

  • Whats the difference in using another chorus on a send. Then using filters on tracks plus then sending?

Is the app filtering the original audio?

The filter is just one small feature of Choric. Choric is much more than a chorus + filter. The filter is intended to make filter setup easy. For me, the really cool stuff is the other bits such as the chorus engine itself (this is different to other chorus effects) and pitch shifting.
