Best qualitativ sounding Synth

Hey. I know its realy subjectiv which synth you think sounds best. But maybe you share my opinion or want to hear others.
For me all Virsyn synths sound rich and full like no other. Also all synths from sugarbytes. I am about to buy a new synth, but all videos i watch about Nambu, Synthmaster 2 and bleass megalit, sound not much that thick which i mentioned

Definitely subjective. Case and point: I find Virsyn synths to be thin and uninspiring. But I do agree with you on the others at the same time. My favorite is Animoog. Because of its expressive qualities. 🤷‍♂️

  • Definitely subjective, as I find Virsyn synths to be phat and rich. But I agree about Moog :)

  • A lot of this has to do with the preset/patch design...
...I'm still hooked on Poison-202 :sunglasses:

  • Factory

    Also, try Drambo

  • Factory and Aparillo. VHS Synth. Teraverse. Obsidian. Others may sound good but just don’t click with me for whatever reason.

  • Another here for Factory. I always find inspiration from its patches and they can be rich, expressive, abrasive, edgey, atmospheric...And often many combinations of all those aspects.

I'd also put Synthmaster 2 in the mix as well. A lot of sounds there are not winners for me, but the sheer number of available presets creates more than enough amazing sounding patches that also provide tons of inspiration for me. It just means putting time into patch trawling and marking your favorites.

Trooper and Synthmaster 2 were my most used synth in the past months. I think they both sound very thick.

Moog model d and model15 sound really really good. Also ivcs3 is amazing but much more experimental.

  • And Animoog Z! I also like the Virsyn, Sugarbytes stuff, would be very surprised to find anyone not impressed by Animoog Z

Greatest synth of all time in my book. That thing can SING

  • Way too many to mention haha but I have a big soft spot for Mela 3 and OBXD.

  • Moog’s still the king, any of them, especially Animoog.

Honorable mentions to OB-Xd and TAL Uno. 2 simple synths kept simple.

This discussion brought Mood back to my mind. That one can sound fantastic. I hardly ever use it for some reason. I'm gonna have to correct that tonight.

  • I don’t really think of it that way anymore than I think of which guitar I own sounds the best. They all have their place and it’s really dependent on composition and arrangement.

Sometimes an instrument that is universally lauded just doesn’t work right in an arrangement.

Me too! I am very new at creating my own synth sounds and I find Poison to be one of the easiest for me to create patchs.

This is very much not a question of quality but taste.

For me the best sounding synths on iOS are still the fantastic KORG emulations.
    Especially

    • PolySix
    • MonoPoly
    • ARP Odyssey

I would even say, this were the best synths of all time. And I would consider to purchase all these as real analog synths (clones) from Behringer. Even if those Behringer clones are quite limited for automation purposes.
It‘s mainly the sound character and architecture, which makes these milestones of synthesizers so universal and timeless.

I wished there was a realistic ARP 2600 emulation too. Or the Pro One.

(I do not like the sound of Virsyn, nor that of SugarBytes. I have bought these all but never even touched after first contact and working thru all the presets. Sound anyhow strange in my ears. For some reasons I also have some antipathy for any Moog stuff, …strangefully. Do also not like any digital stuff at all. Sound wise. (FM, PD Additive Synthesis and such ..))

I guess it depends very much on the style of music you are in.
So there are for sure more synths I do definitely not like, than such I do really like.

It finally all traces down to synths that have a certain character, I do not like, if voices are swimming in effects. This mostly is a sign, that there is not much character or depth in the entire tone generation and such synths just wanna hide the fact that these are build on deficits. If I need effects, I can always add these later.

I love the Arp Odyssei on iOS. I'm thinking to get the VST of it too.

  • Been questioned this last 6 month. Came to conclusion
Nave and Virsyn Tera Pro for rich quantum like wavetable sound.
    Animoog for fat analog sound.
ID700 and Nambu for all kind of FM colors.
Buttersynt also sound gorgeous, but it's unreleased yet.

  • Model D, Factory, Aparillo, Zeeon, Synthmaster and Monolit are the ones that instantly come to mind.

I love Nambu. Very nice synth. I haven't heard about Buttersynt. Sounds tasty!

Edit: Ooh, I just found the public beta of ButterSynth! I shall explore.

  • I just found a helpful list of synths for iOS, with details of each.

  • OdysseI is imo hands down the best iOS virtual analog.

    Zeeon

I very much love Zeeon. It was one of the first synths I bought on iOS.

  • Ob XD and trooper out of what I have . Getting poison later today, and Zeeon sounds good from the videos I’ve seen

I’m in the minority on this but I’ve not been blown away by any of the BLEASS synths based on videos and Monolit.

  • I personally tend to prefer Bleass FX over the synths, for various reasons.

  • Shame on me. I just reactivate all PPG synths. They are what i really call a qualitativ good sounding synth. And i wonder that they reached the auv3 step, and now not More in the appstore

  • Holy crap Poison is freaking AMAZING...you guys were not kidding... that just rocketed to the top of my list, because of how clear everything sounds

It was available for macOS if I recall correctly…
    …it was a separate purchase.
