One question that I'm not sure is answered here, mostly because I haven't asked it yet, is — what app might I install on my iPhone to get similar benefits on my phone? I wish there was a Scaler for iPhone. I could do with this kind of magic in my pocket wherever I go.

Tonality!!! And with the new update you can import scaler 2 chordsets!! Just did a video on it:

    MAJOR Tonality Update!! 🤯🔥🎹 | Feb 6th 2023

That’s pretty cool, I got Tonality too 😂

    You've got the lot!

I was addicted to chord generators, so much so I bought Launchkey 37 and KeyStep 37 smh I had issues

I heard from one of the Scaler devs that they are working on an iPhone version… no indication of timeline though… they are also working on some big things for Scaler 3…

I've loaded and bought the full Scaler 2 package on iPad, and am already learning so much. I will definitely get it for my laptop too, as soon as I am able.

AUM, Gadget, Scaler and Loopy Pro have made iOS music making finally work for me… I can then export to Ableton and everything just works… 👍

    I favor Scaler.
    ChordJam is great for randomization.
Scaler makes you a better musician by giving building blocks for songs and allowing you to apply different performance types.
Over time you improve as a player using it.
I find myself thinking in a more musical way since using Scaler.
Both plugins are great, I would say Scaler is more comprehensive

None . I favor suggester for learning and so simple to use on Mac also , just drag and drop
Scaler 2 is too nerdy for its own good :)

I almost went with the Launchkey 37 instead of the 25 for the same reason. Now you have me doubting my decision. 😃

    Very cool!

Right? I only need an iOS browser with midi capabilities, for now you can export the midi file in safari and use it later

There is a facebook group on the bottom of the page, maybe if more people ask for it?

  • beside scaler being so cool and learny and stuff. I think it has a wonderful sounding felt piano on board ;)
maybe one of the best we have for iOS so far (and I think its even free with scaler 2 not getting the iAP)

Touché, Scaler Felt Piano is lovely and accessible via AUV3 as well 🤩

  • If you want a GOOD and free felt piano
Decent Sampler and Pianobook is your bag

  • How about that @TonalityApp update. Glorious. What an app, I can’t recommend that app enough.

On your question it depends… I like scaler 2 better but it’s a bit bigger, & a little more complex. It’s a full blown AUv3 song writing station. It has and can do everything. Chord progressions, leads, accompaniments, bass lines, recommend chords, melodies, styles of playing, just a massive amount of songwriting power and options

Chordjam is cool, a little lighter, has some cool random options, and can do simple arps.

I like both for different things but if I had to pick I’d say scaler 2.

I've been loving that Scaler Felt Piano. It encourages me to use the app, which can't be a bad thing!

Yes, I use both. I used to build my pianos on AudioLayer, before Decent Player became a usable thing. Even now, it has some issues. But at least there is a new release out for desktop, so I'm hoping for progress.

  • I bought and love having Scaler 2 on my iPad. I also have ChordJam.

The pertinent question is the matter of whether I would benefit from having Scaler 2 on my MacBook Pro as well?

    Any thoughts?

    Especially from you @Stuntman_mike?

    Congrats on purchasing Scaler 2!
Yes, I grabbed it for desktop as well.
I admit that the Control plugin compatibility is not as smooth on desktop as it is in apps like AUM and Drambo on iOS. Scaler works great in Logic, but other DAWs need tutorials:

    Ableton & Scaler 2

    Maschine & Scaler 2

Thanks @Stuntman_mike — that's really helpful. I'm using (learning) Ableton Live 11 intro, but also checking out Bitwig, as a friend gave me a license for a basic version. It would be interesting to see how it works in Bitwig. I prefer Ableton so far, but Bitwig is starting to win me over with certain functionalities, and is less buggy in general, much to my surprise. Ableton support are trying to help me resolve the issues, but they're so far blaming me rather than their software, even though Live is crashing out in many scenarios, but Bitwig is stable with the same plugin combos.

Anyway, I digress… thanks again, I'll watch the videos. I need to work out if Scaler 2 is worthy at full price on my Mac right now, or if it is better to wait until there's an offer on it, as I would also like to buy a LaunchPad X, and my birthday money could go towards that instead, until the next Scaler 2 sale.
