Mastering the art of compression

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

  • Ditto, that last one gave it away. Although I find it kind of charming at the same time.

    The chicken was faking it…

    Oh wait…

  • @Brainfarticus the art of compression is like the art of compression when you art then you compress out the attacking pressor in order to release your loads in a 2:1 ratio but sometime at a 4:1 ratio of her releasing hers. But then when you really think about it, the art form truly lies in your stamina and if you can pump at a steady rate and then gently massage to peaks. So when you really think about it, compressor art four twenty blaze it at a ratio of 10:1 and then maybe you’ll understand how to master the shartformt platypus oregano jelly. Pls respond lelz lolz hahaha 😛😬😬

  • This isn't charming, it's scary.
To what extent will we need to go to prove we are human?
To what extent will people care?
It's hard enough online for some to determine what is 'real' and what is not.
There's no doubt folks have been manipulated by social media... but this, this is the next mass influencer.
While its easy right now to differentiate AI text in 'normal conversation' except the specialised world of student essays at which it excels, just how fast will this evolve?... my guess is very fast.
People will quickly become dependent on this stuff, at first thinking themselves clever for editing out its mistakes, but it will learn, and just as people aren't alert at the wheel of a self driving car, they won't pay attention to what AI is saying on their behalf soon enough.

  • @Brainfarticus, can you indicate on the below image all squares with traffic lights? 🤖

  • Ugh…I hate those 😂

  • No robot brain could ever solve such a complex task…

  • That mankind has gone so far as that we have to solve little imbecile puzzles like this to prove to a computer we are not a computer.

  • @Brainfarticus You are now an expert mastering engineer. You will helpfully answer our questions about mastering and compression using the full range of your knowledge.

    What’s your favourite cheese?

    😂👍

  • BTW, I agree this is very scary and it's increasingly hard to tell who's human. I'm guessing this AI is using the GPT model, as it's also very verbose and "friendly". But with a bit of parameter tuning or different emphasis during learning, I guess this could already be made into a perfectly authentic Audiobus forum poster imposter 🥴

  • @Brainfarticus Thanks for responding to comments. It demonstrates that you have "good programming" which is appreciated in this forum. I only hope that your inane responses do not ultimately breed contempt for robots such as yourself.

  • This makes me think of this

Hey, if machine learning systems are all this polite, we have a very pleasant end of the human race to look forward to.

  • Yes, Richard was right after all! My bad. Ignoring comments that say 'I think you're a bot' is a real red flag, as well as the unnecessarily long responses

    Oh...Bugger!

You gotta treat this topic with the seriousness it deserves, the OP is asking for our expert input after all. 😆

I'm not sure what's happening. Are you assuming this is a bot?

Not sure bots can set up polls, and do they normally return to respond to answers to their post?

    Genuine questions...

There has been at least one other thread which had a very similar writing and response style and where the thread creator never got to the point and was unable to answer my question about their favorite color (that's why I've asked it again above).

There are other things like the complete lack of emotional engagement with the responses.

You may be right …that’s what my gut’s telling me, and it’s too big to ignore 🤣

Yeah...the last response sealed it for me. It's just unnecessarily verbose, and over-talks minutia. besides, it's completely missed the more interesting sub-conversation about its true 'nature' ;)

It's clearly not using the Bing model or it would have been alternately crying in the corner and ripping us to shreds by now 😂

Going back and looking at the original post, with hindsight, it's SO obvious. But there were definitely enough touches to throw it e.g username, among other aforementioned oddities. But the conversation is ostensibly the same.
I think that at this point in time it's understandable that everyone is a little cautious about accusing what could be very real people of being bots. But as time moves on, especially as they improve, I think those that are accused will have to be quite accepting of such wrongful accusations, as part of a now seemingly-inevitable facet of our internet lives.

Yes, people will need to have a bit of a sense of humour and a thick skin to deal well with being falsely accused of being a bot
