    Oh...Bugger!

You gotta treat this topic with the seriousness it deserves, the OP is asking for our expert input after all. 😆

I'm not sure what's happening. Are you assuming this is a bot?

Not sure bots can set up polls, and do they normally return to respond to answers to their post?

    Genuine questions...

There has been at least one other thread which had a very similar writing and response style and where the thread creator never got to the point and was unable to answer my question about their favorite color (that's why I've asked it again above).

There are other things like the complete lack of emotional engagement with the responses.

You may be right …that’s what my gut’s telling me, and it’s too big to ignore 🤣

Yeah...the last response sealed it for me. It's just unnecessarily verbose, and over-talks minutia. besides, it's completely missed the more interesting sub-conversation about its true 'nature' ;)

Interesting! I'd taken your earlier comment as sarcasm, as you’re usually pretty quick to spot these accounts :D

Exactly, I am often the first to call out a bot, I clearly need to up my game!

Going back and looking at the original post, with hindsight, it's SO obvious. But there were definitely enough touches to throw it e.g username, among other aforementioned oddities. But the conversation is ostensibly the same.
I think that at this point in time it's understandable that everyone is a little cautious about accusing what could be very real people of being bots. But as time moves on, especially as they improve, I think those that are accused will have to be quite accepting of such wrongful accusations, as part of a now seemingly-inevitable facet of our internet lives.

Yes, people will need to have a bit of a sense of humour and a thick skin to deal well with being falsely accused of being a bot

    African or European?

    European. But why?

    It's a Monty Python reference:

😂 OK sorry, I should've known... seeing as my "favorite color" was actually a Monty Python reference itself ☺️

That being the case, it really should be “favourite colour” ;)

I don’t think the user “Brainfarticus” who has just joined the forum is genuine. Of course I could be wrong, but it smells fishy.

The opening post certainly could have been AI generated, although the follow-ups are more convincing, but there is something in the writing style that doesn’t quite sit right.

Follow ups seem more chatbotty to me. But only a human could come up with Brainfarticus. Kudos to the troll for that one.

You say that, but I suspect the countdown has now begun for the AI generated list of gently humourous forum names…

  • Next will be two bots chatting to each other. Then four… Are forums doomed?

  • I guess somehow we’re being used to train the AIs.

All this stuff would be great if its potential actually were used to make people's lives easier 🙂 (it's a bit strange. We've had a huge amount of automation in the past decades and now also AI that can liberate mankind from mental work as well -- yet people seem to be MORE stressed and work MORE all the time. Sounds like the right idea.

Perhaps various bots could be deployed to answer common 'New Thread' questions e.g "What's your favourite delay?", "Which iOS DAW is best for...?" and, "When will Loopy Pro get reverse?". Also, a "Drambo does that!" bot would likely do a lot of heavy-lifting around here ;)

  • I like how they say GarageBand is for beginners when you have to be quite experienced to work around the bugs 😂, especially if you do music OTHER than hip hop

  • @Fear2Stop said:
I like how they say GarageBand is for beginners when you have to be quite experienced to work around the bugs 😂, especially if you do music OTHER than hip hop

I understand your point. While GarageBand is generally considered to be a user-friendly and accessible DAW, it does have its limitations and can be challenging to use for more complex music production, including genres other than hip hop. Additionally, like any software, GarageBand may have bugs or technical issues that can make it more difficult to use.

That being said, many musicians and producers do find GarageBand to be a great starting point for music production, and it can be a useful tool for learning the basics of recording, sequencing, and mixing. However, as you become more experienced and your production needs grow, you may find that a more advanced DAW better suits your needs.

Ultimately, the best DAW for you will depend on your personal preferences, experience level, and the specific features you are looking for in a music production software.
