Drum Perfect Pro is as close as iOS has come to a Superior Drummer style desktop acoustic drum solution. DP is very serviceable, I’ve used it for years, but it takes dedication and patience to work up a drum track. I’d love another acoustic drum app. Drum Session looked promising but it lacks sample importing etc.

And even then it sounds terrible (in my personal opinion).
I mean in terms of potential App Store prices - they’re often not that close to exchange rate conversions.
I feel like you'd really need to define "high-quality". They reference plugins, but what features from those plugins?
High quality sample library? Round robin and velocity layering? built-in sequencer? loops? AU? M1/M2 compatible? 1 kit or 20 kits? 1 genre or 10 genres? preset and manager?
For anything close to $100 USD I'd need all these features and some I probably missed. Garageband drums sound fine enough once you factor in layering and mixing and you'd be competing with free.
That's not to say don't attempt it, but it's a large hurdle to clear due to the amount of solid options already available.
But, that shouldn't matter. The question is how much you would be willing to pay, which isn't related to the relative difference between Apple pricing in different regions.
If the question was about how you would price an app if you were a developer, that would be different and yes, confusing/difficult to estimate.
What’s needed is an app that allows “rhythm synthesis”.
The ability to create dynamic (ie volume/velocity, groove, etc) via parameters and operators the same way we build sound with waveforms and filters.
There was that totally insane app called Different Drummer that sort of did this, but the interface, some of the concepts, etc were wayyyy to complex to jam with.
What’s needed is a way to jam, real time, on drums via parameter modulation… you can sort of get there via modulating Euclidean rhythm generators, but not really…
I’m just used to seeing a lot of posts here from people confused about why various App Stores have different prices when exchange rates don’t reflect that. I just don’t really have much of an idea of what those EUR prices might be in USD.
Have you tried to jam with the 4tRhythm patch in Drambo? Have a look to see it in action with Ting.

Described as " Compared to the step sequencer, it can produce dynamic rhythms and is very fast to sequence. Compared to the Euclidean sequencer, it is closer to real playing.". You sequence on-the-fly 16 basic drum pattern templates, can modulate via buttons and XY, too.
The aim of the plugin is to produce only high-quality sound; there won’t be any sequencing facilities at launch time. On the other hand, we are adding many articulations and dynamic controls to each element. This will provide a more realistic and natural playing experience and also allow for customization of any elements of the drum kit.
For now, we haven't decided whether to sell the full drum kit or sell each element separately. We will add more drum kits later after the launch.
The plugin is based on our open-source project called Vie, available on GitHub. This framework is aimed at cross-platform audio plugin creation (VST, AUV3). The framework is more capable than just sampling; it can also create effects, synthesis, and more.
I'll try to give more information regularly as the project advances.
TBH, the Lumbeat apps in AUv3 would just about nail anything! If a dev took a look at what Lumbeat has created but made it AUv3, they'd be on a winner. JMO of course!!
Yeah, those are great, if only they had auv3 and also proper detailed manuals. So if the dev doesn't want to go down the auv3 route someone else definitely should, because people have been dreaming of that for years already now
Agreed
I think there is a market for this and I would not be that happy at having to pay over £90- but if it was so good that it couldn't be ignored, then I probably still would. I think the pro gigging market is crying out for something like this. Wedding/corporate bands for example might lap this up.
Ich träume auch von einer AUv3 Drum Lösung wie Superior Drummer oder ähnliche. Wenn das passiert , werde ich meinen Desktop PC wohl nie wieder anfassen! Bitte setzen sie das um!
+++/Absolutely!
I'm going to strongly disagree with many of you here (e.g. those of you who like me are bonafide Lumbeat, DrumPerfect etc. "fanbois") while honestly wondering if you know what you are talking about. If you don't have and use something like Superior Drummer 3 I believe you don't/can't. Beyond that, what kind of IOS musician of any caliber and intelligence would discourage anyone from developing a state of the art product virtually certain to meet and beat any present challenge any other current app can present to the development goals stated above?
Even approximating the capabilities of the most recent iterations of Superior and/or EZ Drummer on IOS with great acoustic drums professionally sampled at multiple velocities and implemented with a broad library of midi grooves generated by real drummers (only way to get great and realistic hat grooves IMO), and most/all key features of SD/EZD too numerous to mention would be an absolute instant buy for me and would be a major advance for IOS composition capabilities more generally, I think. Lumbeat, SD, GB etc. though good for what they are and do are just no contest whatsoever -not even close -FTR I own all available IOS Lumbeat apps, DrumPerfect, etc. etc. and Superior Drummer and similar more advanced software for computer. This is one area where IOS offerings are still decidedly inferior to software available for computer DAWs, though it needn't remain so.
Not sure you can get the full picture of what actual public interest would be once something like this launched -massively more than a thread might suggest I would expect (cf. Statistics 301 sample to population dimorphism etc., etc.).
I predict and wish you massive success!
Is this idea dead now?
After seeing the garbage that Drumperfect Pro (the “sD2” of iOS drums) is/was, and trying several apps, I’ve come to 2 conclusions:
After many years searching EG pulse crushes all other apps, especially DPP, in the acoustic kits and ability to import your own, for only $10
I don’t need super real acoustic drums on iOS, that’s what $200-300 drum VST for Logic are made for. iOS isn’t meant for it, so until Logic Pro comes over to iOS im good with Pulse
(Hon. Mention to digistix)
those are pretty harsh words for DrumPerfect Pro. It might not suit your preferences but DPP is certainly not garbage.
That just happened.
And I just saw its $50 a year or $5/monthly which was a real deal breaker to me. I dont do subscriptions, especially for software I paid $200 to own. It feels like I’m on a countdown and I dont like not owning it.
Also considering Pulse runs in iOS and macOS I stand by my original answer since I like cross platform iOS apps. On top of that since I just found Audioscope and I own Cubasis Im not in a rush to port. I mean Audioscope totally just changed how i felt about GB and Cubasis.
But $50 a year or $5 a month, that’s not cool for me or my wallet? I own Toontrack and XLN and a few kits, so again, unless there was some cross platform ownership, where i could use both Logic Pro and one of my drum kits, I wouldn’t be interested in paying over $10 (again, after soon to be obsolete IAA Lumbeat and DPP). I dont think Im being unrealistic in expecting Logic pro would be cross-ownership?
Like if they did what pianoteq did with cross ownership, awesome. But subscription based, nah. Paying over $10 (again) for an app when Pulse and Digistix 2 are nearly as good as EZdrummer etc lets just say i would really need to be sold
Since there’s a free trial period, I think you can be convinced.
Alright @NeuM your starting to get me AAS
The game is over with Logic Pro on iOS. You got it.
Speaking of which, I bought AAS Strum GS-2 for desktop and I think that now will be eclipsed by Logic Pro on iPad Pro. My head is still spinning with this news.
