Not to turn this into a Nord Modular thread…

  • Obviously not a bug thread.

Just showing how much of a nighmare the drum situation on ipad is for me.

And I only be harsh because iv been trying to sort a drum machine since 2019.

I need to synthesise drums and automate in Drambo.

Seems this drum app is the only thing which might have functionality of a volca drum ( with Drambo )

I would just use Fac drum but it isnt a parmeter app.

    Can anyone see my point?

Or is it because I dont know how to setup drum apps?

Also should be able to use 7 instance of Drum computer on a dedicated ipad?

Noticed the dsp in aum for drum computer is lower now.

    Issue to be resolved.

    Enquired about Nest, whilst there.

    Thought so.

It were your comment before saying so.

Which prompted me to ask though.

    Graindad?

    Need to check Graindad.

Not really a fan of granular ( the reason I actually bought ipad ) Thinking synths generally were vintage but thats now good.

Not really a fan off effects ( generally )

But Graindad will likely be cool.

    • loopable stem player
    • multi-in recording to shareable stems
    • stems have 2 dimensions - time and sample. think wavetable, but for extended loops (even entire 'songs')
    • turn knob per stem to shift playback through 128 samples
    • plugin assists with recording these 'wavetable stems'
    • play the stems w a dj like interface, 1-6 channels per deck
    • tx-6 bte midi control
    • in-app community sharing and remixing

i'll build this hopefully before long

  • So cant set up a template for Drum computer as it crashes and never used drum computer.

    So a mess around track.

I do like how Cality adds swing at the end. Its like being a DMC turntable finalist.

    Which makes me wonder.

Why have drums on IOS never really been made as auv3 modules.

Is it because of cpu of old ipads or because Drambo didnt exist?

But maybe DAWS like AE mobile etc had automation. Is samish as P-lock?

    Just making this track.

Id make an auv3. Thats low cpu but still synthy with all the sound design ( resonators etc ) Obviously p- lockable. For those who dont like synthy ( aka volca drum or drum computer ) You can still make normal hi quality drum kits.

The rolls from Drum computer via keyboard. Have an external keyboard and launchpad in mind.

Launchpad. 8 tracks. A horizontal row are pretty much a trigger for each track and all buttons above plus more custom pages. Are not only rolls but maybe other note mangling midi out to a sequencer.

Would it effectivly be like micro timing to a sequencer but via midi?

You could maybe expand on that by then making a better swing module, than Cality based around your coding of drum app.

Maybe make a master effects app.

Kind of sidechaining. Effects that suit drums.

Effects can be set to listen to a chosen note trigger ( the rolls etc ) and then a routing matrix of audio input.

Not sure if ios would need multi in and or sidechaining isnt actually multi in ( eg. you would still hear a send audio of tracks you dont want to send )

Obviously the effects can still be p-locked via Drambo or host.

The effects thing is just a theory but an low cpu version of a drum app plus midi triggering techiques ( rolls etc ) should be a must.

I had Micro Modular (it was actually my first real HW synth, not counding Poly 800 which i had before it and used it really just as midi keyboard) but i liked sound of Modular G2 a LOT more than Micro Modular ..

It's a pity they killed this product line, it was pretty unique.

Here som stuff i sampled from G2, anybody who wants feel free to take it and mangle it in your sampler ;))

    Thank you!

  • Obviously Il try again with the drum thing ( another attempt made ) and after going on to Sugarbytes and Giku, like a moron.

It turns out the drums just get to the point of silly anyway.

Even can just add scatterbrain ( which is what it sounded like ) but less good.

But its good to have the option. A roll here and there.

    An auv3 per track, perhaps.

i have to add one thinkthing inforgot.. at least for FM leads there is pretty faithfull reproduction of Nord Lead 2 oscillator FM modulation algo on iOS :) Or at least soon it will be... it's called - "Butter Synth"

listen to these, there is no chance you can hear difference to real NL2 FM sweeps .. It sounds even better than FM mod on Discovery desktop plugin :-)

still planning this as I wrap up another project. with the TX-6 updated firmware that adds 12in + 12out simultaneously, I can do so much more with this idea, pretty excited. also figured out how to do a good realtime b2b mode (across the internet) for playback of these stems or switching between live and stems. lot more ideas here, I hope to share early work here before long.

    Absynth!!!
It would be awesome for this great synth to be resurrected on iPadOS 😍

    I’d like a few to come over…
    1. Devious machines infiltrator 2
    2. Phase plant
    3. Arturia pigments 4
    4. Izotope Ozone
    5. Soothe 2
    6. Movement
    7. Shade EQ
    8. Serato sampler
    9. Melodyne studio or editor
    10. Air soft clipper

  • Plogue Chipspeech, or something else like it.

  • There's mostly nothing I pine for on iPadOS that we don't have already. Maybe an AUv3 version of Xequence? But that's about it really. :)

    1. A DJ fx plug-in.. scratches, spin-backs, chops, etc.

    Yes!

  • I have never found the DAW I love on iPad. I care very much about the UI, everything being on one page, clean graphics. I also care about the ability to change sample rates/bit depth, sample accuracy, and PDC.
    I want
    Audio:
AUv3 host, multi ins and outs, a timeline, overdubbing of course, simple editing tools, auto crossfade, the ability to cut loops to the grid, automation, the ability to change tempo and time signature, monitor on or off.
    MIDI:
A simple to use step sequencer with parameter lock type automation, a piano roll sequencer with easy to use tools, decent ppqn.

And nothing else. I don't want instruments or samples or loops or effects or anything fancy. This may exist already, there are good DAWs for iPad, but none I've tried so far that I clicked with.

The replies so far either chose existing desktop apps they’d like to see AUv3 versions of
    OR
completely new plugins for iOS AUv3.

In that vein I’d like to see the Waves Abbey Road suite of plugs and maybe some Universal Audio classics.

The big hole in the AUv3’s available was a true pro level tuning app like Melodyne but since Audio Evolution released its Vocal Tune Pro there’s a good approximation available. What I’d dig is a Superior Drummer 3, Addictive Drums 2 type AU suite that would allow us to construct and program acoustic drum parts.

I have build my own Superior drummer. One Shot + Helium for browsing and previewing midi drum beats + a good library of midi beats.
