Yes, very strange, have never heard of that kind of thing happening before, though maybe it has. Perhaps there was some big they couldn’t fix? No idea - maybe you could email them?
If you join their discord you can see what Chris has to say about it. It doesn’t feel right to repost it here.
It’s defo a shame though. Means I’ll basically hardly use version 3. Their interfaces always fit so nicely on iphone landscape too.
Not sure if this has been mentioned but I’m on the beta version on my iPhone. Isn’t it weird that the beta is universal but the app is not?
Ok I see it was discussed. I use the iPad more but was hoping to use on both.
The addition of envelopes launch Replicant to the shoulder of Orion.
+1
Maybe we could start a petition 😂
In reality I’m a bit sad about this one as replicant 2 is one of my fave apps but it has a few unsolved bugs so I was hoping 3 would just replace it.
Anyone else finding the timing precision of Replicant 3 to be not quite as good as 2? Something seems slightly out with R3 and every time I've tried using it anywhere I've ended up taking it back out as it makes for a slightly messy sound.
Maybe it's a latency compensation issue. Replicant 3 uses a buffer, and maybe your host is not accounting for the latency of the plugin. I seem to remember similar issues with other plugins recently.
I thought that too, but it’s NS2 which doesn’t usually have any problems with plug-in latency so I did a little experimenting with the controls all as simple as can possibly be, with a 4/4 kick running into replicant.
Here you can see it firing before the last beat. It’s not every time, but it’s often enough to make my music sound wrong. And when the controls are more complex than this it happens in multiple places along the bar.
I’ve found something a bit less graceful about 3, could be the latency you mention or could be my inexperience with the new features. I’ve been sticking to 2 like a Luddite
On the topic of glitch… I still love the seemingly under appreciated GlitchCore, especially as a live tool for real-time interaction… Just a suggestion to check it out.
Yeah, still my most used glitch type app, simple and to the point with elegant and direct control…
Unfortunately I seem to remember that Glitchscaper does not save its state as an auv3, is that right? Haven't used it in a while.
Have to admit to cheapness. Returning an app for £3.
but now transfering apps.
Replicant 2 is no longer available.
So I guess I were right to return app ( in some way )
Same with other apps though.
Shaper etc.
has anyone tried this in a live setting? Is it a CPU hog? Latency?
cheers
Faced multiple bugs in audio processing and interface, refunded. Effectrix and / or automated turnado are much more than this
Yeah, 3 is crappy in comparison. Everything about it felt off and rushed.
Interesting. I played around with Rep2 a fair bit and liked it very much. Since 3 came out I haven’t felt the need to go back to 2. I find 3 to be more rhythmically usable and better equipped. I only ever use it in AUM though, so maybe it has issues in other hosts?
I think I missed the sale 😭😭
Where do you see that? I just looked on my iPad and it’s still showing $12.99 at the moment. Should I hurry up and buy it?
Unless you really need it, or unless you want to support the dev, I'd wait for a sale. This is very very much more expensive than the intro price, so I reckon it will be heavily discounted at some point. I like it but I definitely wouldn't personally pay 18 bucks for it
£12.99 here also, which I’m pretty sure is about double what I paid for it on intro. And (sorry, Audio Damage) I don’t think I would recommend it at the current price if you already have Replicant 2.
It's the joy to be Canadian. 🇨🇦
People at the beginning of the thread where talking about 3$. What happened to that price ?
It’s hard for me to say. I think it’s a very high quality effect and I find is super useful. And I’ve paid more for other effects. But yeah I’m not sure. For much I like and use it personally, I’d say it’s worth it. For everyone? I dunno.
Introductory price. I think AD were saying at the time that it was going to be very low compared to the full price.
I missed intro price but still bought it lol I was on the beta the whole time and fell in love with the app so I knew I had to have it once the beta expired.
What confused me was the beta worked on iPhone but the released version is ipad only. I mean, feel free not to take my money if you don’t need it…
