What did I tell ya ;)

Big sale started today. Byome and Triad, both at $39

    https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/products.html

I just spotted it, I'm on there now. I also have a $25 loyalty voucher. One question, I thought that Triad was Byome's big brother, and does all that Byome does, and more. Is that not correct?

Triad is a multi-band version. There are a couple of missing things, when going to the bigger brother, though I'm at a loss to remember what they are. I first owned Byome, but sold it and later got Triad. In a way, I prefer the interface of B, 'cause less clutter, but ultimately it's hard to beat multi-band ;)

Was also gonna tell you to try and get hold of a voucher, somehow. Good that you have it. but it expires at the end of today. It does work now, though (Just used it to buy 'Streamliner).

Yes, they were kind enough to say in their email that the vouchers are still working today.

I think when I got them I somehow got both at once btw, I can’t remember what the deal was but I think it’s because they’re so similar they package them up sometimes…

Just searched my email and saw that I got a bundle that was $37 including tax, I probably didn’t have a voucher…

Edit: a subsequent bit of searching “BYOME & TRIAD Modular FX Bundle” hasn’t revealed anything current though, 😞

Caveat: I haven’t done this and so don’t know the details, but is there any mileage in connecting the iPad to the Mac using a USB cable and using IDAM (i thunk that’s the name of it) to pipe audio in and out, so you could use SpaceFields in conjunction with your DAW? Or is IDAM only one-way?

That's what I was wondering, but I think IDAM is only one way. But surely there must be a way to run SpaceFields from the iPad into Ableton? There must be some interface/routing option to do this?

Alternatively, I need to create soundscapes on my iPad, then import in as audio files into my DAW.

Use IDAM, or audio out via an interface if your iPad doesn’t have a headphone socket.

If using IDAM, connect and enable the iPad using Audio/MIDI setup on the Mac.

Enable the iPad as an input device in Live’s preferences, and you can then select it as a sound source in the audio track options.

I used it all the time, but its stopped working with Big Sur as my iPad is on a later version.

No headphone socket, just USB-C on my iPad.

So I need an audio interface to feed audio from my iPad Air 4 to Ableton on the MacBook Pro?

I haven't got one yet, but I know it's been nudging closer, in terms of need. Perhaps it is time. I'm on iOS16 on iPad, and latest Ventura on my i5 MacBook Pro.

You can connect via USB-C IDAM. Just connect your ipad to the Mac. It’s better quality than straight audio anyway.

Oh, brilliant news. I simply didn't have an interface in my budget this month. I know I will get an Arturia MiniFuse 2 when the moment comes, but great I can do it with USB-C cable. Thanks for your help!

No problem! Hope it works - usually does unless there’s an incompatibility between iOS and Mac OS versions (my issue).

I’m looking at the Minifuse too, be interesting to see how you get on with that one :)

I'll let you know how I get on. With both IDAM + USB-C, and Minfuse 2, when I get it.

Glad to see others with more knowledge have picked this up - I guess it’s worth a try and if it doesn’t work, you’ve not lost much apart from time.

With respect to interfaces, a two channel in/two channel out should work. The down side is that you might lose a little bit of quality due to converting digital to analogue and back a couple of times. That said, a good quality interface like the Arturia you’ve mentioned elsewhere shouldn’t degrade things by much - you might not notice it at all.
