    I must listen to more Dream Theatre @BillS , not sure why I don’t. It was all done by Jordan Rudess on an iPad with GeoShred you know 🤨
    To be honest @Ailerom I couldn’t concentrate on the music , the video was far too distracting 😊
    Anyway here is my attempt this month, far fewer notes than last month !

    I have a bit of a love hate relationship with sax but take that out of the equation and it's hard to deny the sweet control of the instrument shown here. And the melody was fantastic. Often instrumentals have some aspects that seem to wander away from the theme but not here. It was a totally cohesive selection of notes and not a thing was out of place. Very nice. And the bell (I love a nice spacious bell sound) beds was a beautiful layer for the sax to float over. I think this song could grow over the course of the arrangement to become something even more magnificent.

    Absolutely brilliant! What a beautiful piece of music, and bravo for playing it live. Restrained, tasteful composition and sublime playing, you squeeze out real emotion from this wonderful instrument.

    A rather different feel to your entry last month :)

    Saxophone can often sound a bit cheesy IMO, but this track doesn't suffer from that, it's really nice and has a lovely melancholy and wistful vibe to it. The playing is great and the improvised melodies work really nicely.

    Nice clear sound, relaxing. Reminds me of the Album Leaf.

    This is a music track that I improvised on two MIDI keyboards connected to an iPad.

    I used Bome Network software to send the iPad's MIDI notes to Bitwig Studio running on a desktop PC. There the MIDI was routed to Omnisphere, ZebraHZ, and Alchemy for the musical instruments.

    After bringing the audio recording into Vegas Pro, I applied the Lurssen Mastering Console plug-in to the audio mix.

    It's titled Reentry.

    Lovely improvised melodies, with tons of space between the notes. Resting on a cushion of air provided by the background pads. Very nice, great piece to have playing while doing some work.

    Hi Guys.. Did this track & was released about a year ago.. Vocals were Kimicoh & Anaya Weathers from the States.. I originally made the instrumental when we were in 3 month Covid Lockdown about 3 years ago in Cyprus.. Enjoy.. :)

    My entry for the month, lyrics in the spoiler:

    Hold me, help me
    Spend some time alone with me
    You don’t know I’m fading
    You can’t see me waiting

    But you know
    You know where we are
    And you say
    We can’t get to go all that far

    But I
    I can’t see the stars in the sky
    I’m half blind and I don’t know why

    What, and how?
    Can you help me now?
    We can’t relive the pain we tasted
    We can’t live those days again

    Show me, so I can see
    Something hopeful something sweet
    You can keep me waiting
    Although I’m hesitating

    But you know
    You know what we say
    And you pray
    We can’t get to go all that way

    You can wish the pain away
    But it will come back anyway
    Accept that you are grieving
    With hope you can start healing

    But in the end, in disarray
    We'll try to meet our fate halfway
    As long as we keep breathing
    We have to keep believing

    I like it, dreamy, nostalgic, kind of floating feel

    I actually have something nearly finished so I'll chime in this month. Not happy with the mix, yet again, but it's getting close to "can't be bothered tweaking any more".

    Nice, reminds me a lot of Alice in Chains.

    With no obvious candidate this month, I hope it’s ok to share a track from my 2019 album Golden Years called The More I Learn. This song was significant for me in that I started to use my DAW beyond simply recording voice, guitars, drums and conventional keyboards - a year or so before discovering iOS and extending those possibilities greatly.

    Fed up with being an angry old man shouting at politicians on the telly, I thought I’d write a song about it 😂

    Good Stuff, reminds me of Ric Ocasek's Solo Albums.

    Nice, relaxing and spaced out. I don't know if it's my headphones, but it sounded a little bit dull in the highs to me. Other than that, lovely sounds.

    Sounds very well produced, great singers.

  • Hey Everybody, I usually don't really finish stuff, but would kind of like to change that. Nice idea, this song of the month club. I might be able to convince myself to finish one song a month. I'm not that great at mixing or arranging, yet. So I'm grateful for any feedback. Recorded into Ableton, Drums and Glitches are programmed, the rest is played by me in one way or another.

    Oh wow. You just hit the compliment sweet spot for me. Thanks for listening.

    It’s a great idea to finish something - whilst I love noodling, I find there is much more personal satisfaction in a finished product. Nice melodies running through your piece - what instruments did you use?

  • @BillS Thanks:) Well basically I tried to harvest a bit of my noodling and get it into some shape, and while it's far from perfect, it gives me some satisfaction to have taken it a step further than I usually would.

    Drums are Modo Drums sequenced by Jamstix 4, Glitches are Glitchmachines Tactic, one synth is Ableton's wavetable, the other PS20. The rest is just my bass and guitar (the trumpet is my guitar through magenta ddsp).

    Next step: work on better song structure.

    Hey welcome to the Club :)

    Great track, and the synth and guitar improvisations are really nice. I really like the final guitar section because it contrasts so strikingly with the backing track in terms of style. It's nice to hear genres being mashed up this way.

  • @richardyot Thanks, nice to be here:)

    It's interesting, that that last guitar part sticks out to you - It didn't to me - but there may be a reason for that. I had a version with some of the elements, that I discarded and that guitar is the one part, that I pulled out from the old more guitar centered session.

  • @richardyot
    A strong opening with a ringing guitar solo that quickly shifts to the voice and lyrics. Really like the way it builds musically right before the 2:50 mark, as though you’re trying to reach up and break through to the stars.

    @Ailerom
    Wow, this one doesn’t hold back. Hard driving opening with a screaming guitar. You have a strong voice that stands out, even within the wall of sound surrounding it. The unexpected wah wah guitar is a nice touch.

    @BillS
    Cool percussive opening that becomes the backbone of the song. Builds up to a very strong and almost-orchestral height. As usual, the terrific lyrics conjure up a story that’s both lyrical and heart-felt.

    @GeoTony
    Once again, I’m amazed with what you can do with GeoShred. And it’s not just how well you’ve mastered the instrument, the music behind is just as impressive. It’s an ideal match. On a personal note, I played the saxophone in high school. And I never came close to achieving to the soulful and fluid sax sound that you’ve created here. Bravo!

    @studs1966
    Strong beat that transitions from minimal elements to a full-fledged song. Very strong production values with terrific singing. Great overall sound and mood. Top notch!

    @tyslothrop1
    Combines ethereal and jazz elements to create a satisfying musical journey. Almost like a stew pot where you’ve thrown in different flavors to see what tastes and smells will turn up. Very cool.

  • @DavidEnglish Thanks very much for listening. Really appreciate the review.

  • @DavidEnglish Thank you:) I feel a bit bad about leaving those more or less oneliner comments. I'll try harder next month.

  • @DavidEnglish thanks so much for your kind words!
