  • Sooo knock wouldn’t show up within either AUM, ApeMatrix, or AUBE for me… Tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice. Fastest return request I’ve placed. I wonder if other folks have had similar issues with it. I’m on an m1 air.

I just had to reboot the iPad.

    Just buy knock!

Definitely seems like the right choice. Though I guess if you just want one section of it for some reason, Clipper might be fine. How is Knock compared to something like Beef for adding umph to stuff?

My personal sonic tastes...I like Beef better. Both Knock and Beef do similar things, but the only advantage Knock has is its ability to add a subbass. Beef has some advantages including the choice of various saturation types and an EQ section.

The couple rappers I know seemed to respond more to my beats with drums coloured with Beef more than Knock. @CaelumAudio knows their shit. 😂

You ain’t lying! One of the best devs out there and one of the few that I own every single app from. Think I may have to pass on this one for now. There are other apps I could spare that $20 on atm since it seems like Beef can do what I want already. Thanks as always 🤝

Of course mate. :) I'm not knocking Knock by any means, but let's just say I bought it so you don't have to. 😂🤣

😂 it’s still on my list, don’t get me wrong lol but I’m not sure how soon. Though it is tempting at the sale price. But I feel like Beef+Bass Mint could do basically the same thing. Hell even for $8 you could add the new Clipper and have it all

Heh, pretty much. Or you could just do without the Knock Clipper as Beef has one. Or if you want extra distortion and such, there is FAC Bandit for just a quid over the asking intro price of Knock Clipper.

Shit, I can get meaty beats out of Gadget's drum gadgets just by using the saturator IFX (which does take away anything below 100Hz) and setting the mix of that to around 50% (so that I bring back the bass of the drums while still keeping that nice crunchy saturation on top). I can also add a decimator, adjust the samplerate and bitrate, and then adjust the mix knob to taste for extra crunch.

Agreed on Gadget though! Do you mean the saturator that comes natively or the IAP for the Dotec one?

The IFX saturator not DeeMax. 😉

Knock is more focused on just a few different things, so it gets you there very quickly and is almost idiot-proof. Beef has more going on, so it takes more tweaking to get a similar result. But I emphasize that it can be very close.

    This, yes

Just watched your video on the 2 of them and I can’t lie, KNOCK really does sound great. But there’s quite a number of things I want to get first, since Beef does a good enough job for me right now. After seeing your demo, though, I will definitely acquire KNOCK at some point in the future. Gotta save for Hilda now though 😎

  • I can’t get Beef as clean. I definitely prefer Knock after day one of testing.

So KNOCK can do clean well I’m guessing? That would be one positive. Beef can do somewhat clean but that’s not really its forte so it can’t get all the way there. At least in my experience

  • Here is my video for KNOCK Clipper.
Hopefully, this will give you a good idea of what the app can do for your music, and, whether or not it is something you would b buy.

Yeah, Beef and KNOCK are different.
KNOCK is personally one of my “special sauce” plugins. It’s got that “special something” that hits just right for drums and helps other sounds stand out more in a mix. I know influencers can leave a taste of uncertainty and distrust for some folks, but DECAP is no slouch. He became popular for drums that hit just right, so this plugin is definitely a dial-a-DECAP 😂

Did you reboot? This sounds like the known iOS bug where some AUv3 don’t show up until after a reboot. It occurs quite randomly and can happen to any AUv3. Deleting and reinstalling won’t fix it when this OS bug strikes but rebooting will.

  • Thank you for the pointers!

Yeah I’m definitely starting to see the special sauce here for sure. After watching a few videos I may end up needing it after all 😂 I love Beef a lot but I can hear a difference and can already tell I could use both in different ways.

  • It’s really not Hyperbole. The drums from “Drums that Knock” Vol 1-10 have been in thousands of billboard hit records. His drums alone have shaped an entire landscape of music and it was with the help of Knock and Knock Clipper. I’ve been following Decap since way before he had plugins or even his own drum kits. It’s incredible to see his influence just about everywhere.

I ended up buying just the clipper and even that alone is absolutely fantastic. It’s a great app for sure.

  • Ya Knock does sound good in the vids I watched. Wondering if it’d be way different from Beatformer? Probably I’m sure.

Yeah, KNOCK Clipper definitely achieves “KNOCK” by itself. KNOCK plugin allows for more tweaking.

I may or may not end up with the full app but I’m very happy with Clipper so far.
