What are some good sequencers for acid and bass lines?

  • Depending on what you’re trying to do, don’t sleep on Cycle. It can produce some very trippy sequences when you experiment with, for example, polyrhythms between pitch and gate length.

Good point. I don't know why I never really got into those apps. Beautiful UI and a very modular approach to sequencing... Must revisit.

The Egoist midi plugin is pretty great for acid basslines, and actually Egoist’s bass thing does a half decent 303.

It’s generally what I use for driving my TD-3’s. Easy to chain up patterns and randomize/change direction.

Imo, Egoist is one of the most underrated apps on iOS. The bass synth and drum machine are both really great and the sampler is insanely cool. One of my favorite apps.

  • @HotStrange and once again my app prefs show a very overlapping Venn diagram with yours. I use Egoist a ton, it's surprisingly light on resources and can achieve a hell of a lot.

We’re on the same wavelength it seems 😎 I never paid enough attention to the CPU but that is surprising. I’m a big fan of Sugar Bytes overall. The main synth I’m eyeing right now is Cyclop. I never got around to getting it and recently saw a demo that immediately sold me.

    +1.

I remember the weekend it came out and I spent the whole weekend learning it and playing around with it. A good purchase.

To be honest it took me a long time to click with this app. It's really easy to veer off into incoherence with it, and not always easy to figure out the interaction between the various channels or tracks or whatever you want to call them. And I have some quibbles with some of the UI choices. But I've been using it more and more now that I feel like I kind of "get" it.

    ...
Use Pure acid and a midi modulator like Mozaic or Mela Midi and and LFO to go nuts.

  • I can’t get anything useable as a 303 bassline out of Egoist via midi. Will keep tweaking.

It is hands down my favourite app. Just crazy, especially with automation from Drambo.

Never tried it with Drambo but now I have to lol it’s not quite my favorite but it’s definitely up there. It has my 3 favorite things: a sampler, a bass synth, and a drum machine. If you haven’t tried it, iSequence also from BeepStreet is similar and also great.
