Oops, I forgot that it's not available for iPhone yet. Others will correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I can recall, an iPhone-compatible release is in the works (and how long that'll take before it sees the light of day is anyone's guess). But in the meantime, I'm scratching my head to figure out another universal synth just as capable. Synthmaster 2 would've been another suggestion, but that one is iPad-only.
The way to add internal effects is to long press. I know it's an awkward way of working at first (at least it was for me), but that's how you add internal FX. PSP2 recently got an update where it remembers my settings again, so maybe that's what was going on. (It wouldn't recall which sound I used, but after the update, it remembers my sounds and my old projects with it load fine.)
Gadget 2 is truly an amazing app. Be forewarned that while Gadget has a gadget in it that can act as one singular audiotrack, it is a little cumbersome to use. However, for vocal works with Gadget I normally export the stems and dump those into Cubasis 3 anyways.
Ah, so a rompler of sorts? I'm not sure there is anything on iOS that can 100% match Omnisphere's workflow, but I know others here will know better than me. Yeah, miRack wouldn't fit that description of a "tweakable rompler" since it's 100% a modular synthesis environment.
When it comes to the iOS romplers, again it's hard to top Pure Synth Platinum 2. Just remember some operations require a long press rather than a double-tap or singular tap. Korg Module Pro is a close second when it comes to tweakable romplers (and it's also a Gadget-compatible app). Beathawk isn't as tweakable as the first two, but it has plenty of amazing sounds too. All three of these romplers have loads of IAP sounds and can fill your internal storage pretty quick (so a device with at least 512gb is recommended).
I guess I should have put more winks in there. It’s 100% sarcasm.
@MagicznyDamian miRack is not a traditional synth, but if its power is something that you're drawn to, Drambo is definitely worth checking out.
Synthmaster One is a powerful synth with a lot of presets, and it does have an iPhone version.
Hip hop often uses FM synths, so KQ Dixie might be worth looking into. It's also extremely light on resources. It can load DX7 presets, so you can find a ton of presets for it...but the preset browser is also based on the DX7, so it's not very modern.
In terms of ROMplers, Korg Module has a lot to offer. Pure Synth Platinum is good, but also check out their MKSensation Xtreme; it's marketed as having "bread and butter sounds".
NanoStudio 2's built-in synth, Obsidian, has a good range of factory presets, and a very neutral, versatile timbre.
Zeeon is an AU synth with a versatile sound, and a great interface, especially on iPad. It's my favorite for making presets. It doesn't come with a lot of presets.
Thanks for your help, Currently testing the free versions of Pure synth,Korg gadget and module and seems to be pretty good
Thanks for the reply, I will check out each app.
I just read is supposed to come out a new FM synthesizer from AudioKitPro that also supports DX7 presets and is free
Excellent! Well no matter what host you choose (whether Gadget, Cubasis 3, NS2, or anything else) Korg Module Pro will be a great go-to rompler. I wish Gadget would allow AUv3s so we could also have PSP2 in it.
Anyways, here's a little trap beat I cooked up in Gadget 2, staying within the conventions of Korg Gadget 2 LE (i.e. only up to three tracks, limited to the gadgets Marseille, Dublin, and London).

London is a great drum gadget that has the right amount of drums to produce various genres with. I used the saturator IFX to give the drums a bit more "oomph" and the lowpass filter in the intro. (The other filter was a highpass filter, but I didn't end up using it for any effects lol). When using the saturator on drums, be sure to set the mix to roughly 50% or so. See, the saturator scoops out the low end, and to bring back some low end you need to adjust the mix knob. I also used the internal MFX highpass filter to scoop out the low-end of the hats. The kick and snares were left alone.
Dublin is a monophonic VA semi-modular subtractive synth. For your purposes, you can make sick 808 sounds on the thing, lol. Again, I used a saturator to add more colour and sauce, and it's set to roughly 50% so that the bass of the 808 can shine through.
Marseille is a small rompler with some decent stock sounds (although not as rich and full as a lot of the sounds you'll get in Korg Module Pro, which is also compatible with full Gadget). Yes the track is titled "Piano", but the piano wasn't working well for me in this particular track, so I switched the sound to the toy piano. The filter in IFX slot 1 is a lowpass filter for effect. The filter in IFX slot 5 is a highpass filter to scoop out the low-end to clear the mix of any mud.
And this is what you can do within the limited confines of Korg Gadget 2 LE. You can even export stems afaik, which you can import into Cubasis 3.
Warning: Gadget can be a rabbit hole with all its IAPs and Gadget-compatible apps and their IAPs (especially Module Pro which, after spending money on all the IAPs, will leave you a few hundred quid short of paying your rent 🤣 ).
@jwmmakerofmusic Nice beat! Sounds very full for a beat with only three tracks.
I'm not a big fan of Gadget's piano roll, but its collection of sounds is amazing. And it can import MIDI files.
Thanks mate. My trick to a full beat is to mix into the limiter. Of course that may not work for everybody, but it works for me. Ymmv.
Gadget's piano roll certainly isn't NS2's piano roll, but yes the collection of sounds you can get out of vanilla Gadget 2 (i.e. no IAPs or external apps) is vast. I'm used to Gadget's piano roll by now after years of using Gadget.
„miRack is not a traditional synth, but if its power is something that you're drawn to, Drambo is definitely worth checking out.”
can you say more about MiRack
Mi rack is one of the very few modular synth with Moog Model15 on iOS , it is right for experimental music, deep sound design but it is not so easy to use. If you are I to deep electro it is really fun , even for electro but to my opinion it’s not the right tool for Hip Hop, rap or even Trap. I don’t know why people propose MiRack as a solution for every music style. I
prefer to tell you directly it will not fit your needs and your music at all , even it is a great apps its a deep learning curve for deep sound design or to learn modular synthesis.
Drambo ( I got it) is very good like a Swiss knife but what you need is really to select a stable Daw or 2 like NS2 and Cubasis 3 and Korg gadget to complete the sound packs. You got good drums in all this apps for what you want to do.
@jwmmakerofmusic give you good advice , others members also give interesting advice.
IFX and most export options are not available in LE.
Luckily Gadget paid version is well worth it, particularly at the regular 50% off sale.
KORG interested me a lot after your great beat, it seems most suitable for me.
I will wait until the discount -50%
I have a question after seeing that there are these in-app purchases and what would be best to buy for rap or everything is already in basic version
I am very grateful to everyone who helped me, especially:
@jwmmakerofmusic
Ah, this I did not know, lol. I tried to be as close to LE as possible without actually having to install LE. 🤣
Very true! Those 50% off sales are a great bargain!
That's the best way to go mate. I'm not sure when the next sale is, but don't they usually have it around the summer @R_2 ?
This page will help you see what comes already with the base Gadget 2 purchase.

But in short, Gadget 2 has most of what you need for rap. If you want to use your own samples however, Bilbao IAP is a drum machine gadget that will allow you to load your own drum samples, and Vancouver IAP is a simple melodic sampler gadget for playing back one-shots (like if you have a collection of 808s in your toolkit that you can't live without).
It's a pain in the butt to try and record vocals into Gadget via the Zurich gadget (which IS included), but you can cook up your beat, export it and pop it into Cubasis 3, record yourself spitting over that, clean it up with Brusfri AUv3, and bring the vocals back into Gadget. OR conversely, you can simply cook up your beat, export the stems, pop them into Cubasis 3, spit over that, clean up your vocals, and mix down in CB3. Either way, CB3 is your best bet for vocal recording anything.
...yeah, I'm a bit obsessed with Gadget 2 and have used it for years, first as a way to generate ideas, and then as a way to cook up. I usually begin a project on my iPhone, airdrop it to my iPad, and finish up there.

This was created 100% in Gadget once they added the Zurich gadget (i.e. the audio track gadget).
EDIT: The 90s pizzi sound was a sample I loaded into Vancouver sampler gadget I forgot to mention. Lol.
Yeah probably in June.
Why not the build-in iCloud sync?
I always forget that exists lol.
Me too … we become old lol
