  • Much fun, the sounds are so good Matt, such a cool app! All the combinations to make, it’s endless joy 🤩 and the effects are wild 😎 Thanks again!

  • Good to see you again, @analog_matt !

I’m in the middle of selling my SY99 as it happens so this release is interesting timing for me.

FYI, I did install the KoFM app and tested it on my M1 iMac and it did not work with Logic or GarageBand as an Audio Unit. iOS only… for now… I guess. :)

Also, thanks for the new patches (updated today). 👍

Works in both GarageBand and Logic for me and others that have tried. You definitely loading it up as an instrument?

Really? Maybe I’ll do a complete reboot and then I’ll see. Thanks.

  • Hi Matthew, registered just to say thanks so much for this. Have been getting into the ios music thing pretty heavy lately (long time musician, just newer to electronic music) and really been enjoying your apps. I’ve already started using this new FM instrument on a track (well, several instruments from the app) and boy do I love it. It’s also great to hear about future updates for the 909 app so appreciate the info on that, and especially the prospective Synth One plans! I sure do love that instrument and only the lack of auv3 keeps me from using it all the time.

The other reason I wanted to register (though with the amount of lurking I do here I should have anyway) is to wish you the best of luck on your sobriety. Will be thinking of you and routing for you man. Around 8 years here and all I can say is there are times that are rough but even the absolute worst times are better than the alternative of going back to how things used to be. You have given us all such wonderful gifts with your instruments and I think this might be the best possible gift you can give yourself.

Anyway, thanks again from a big fan of your work.

Nice, always happy to see new presets from Brice.

    Thanks!

  • @AnalogMatthew Have to say that King of FM is super fun to play and has been incredibly stable!
...have not managed make it crash yet, not even once! :sunglasses:

To me this is clear a sign that the AK framework has had some major fixes under the hood and hopefully the other apps from other devs will follow in due time.

5-stars added to the Swedish AppStore!

  • Thanks @Samu
And I really enjoyed hearing your expertise on Doug's live stream of the app!

    !!!!!!!

  • Love the Jade Starr presets...

  • @Samu : I think I told you before I had an SY 85. I sold one to Moby himself , he’s still got it I think. Nice piano sound as long as you didn’t hold it down too long . Remember “roady” the four element Rhodes sound? The synth had a slightly overdriven dirty quality to it .. And the sequencer ppl was only 48 vs the standard 96 of the day. And loading samples in it was damn near impossible .
The JV 80 was too squeaky clean for my taste although it was great fun to play that steel guitar/harmonics patch. Amazing that was only 8megabytes total.

Well, I still have my SY85 :sunglasses:

I've yet to 'update/re-sample' my SY85 but considering that the Audient ID4 Mk2 I got some time ago is a drastic audio quality update compared to the MobileIn from Line 6 I used to record the original SY85 pack I feel it's soon time to do that...

...I should have done a new pack to celebrate me owning the SY85 for 30 years :sunglasses:

  • Thank you so much for the gift of this wonderful app.

  • Sounds really good. Thank you

  • Thank you for this freebie, sounds very nice.

  • Yeah, +1
So so good, thank you so much :)

  • I d/l King of FM when it was released but never did a thing with it, until now. Hey, this app is pretty great! I decided to do an experimental dub techno track using 4 instances of King of FM, using it’s internal fx (as well as external fx and lfo’s). If you are into traditional folklore music this might not be for you :#

  • Did someone find a way to keep the sequencer running with hold or sustain command ? Thx.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but I think you're asking if it's possible to have the sequencer start when you send sustain (midi CC 64) and stop when you release it?

If so, the are you using King of FM in a host? Which one? It's easy enough in AUM, but some hosts handle Sustain in ways that might trip things up.

  • edited March 17

Thx for your reply ! I’m hosting it in Loopy. Basically I want to be able to maintain the seq running even if I release the keys on my controller. Hold Button and sustain pedal on my keylab don’t work, they only sustain the realease of the pcm. Same if I build a cc64 button in Loopy. Using hold in built in lp keyboard works though.

  • New King of FM update! Some nice features and fixes in there for this great synth. Not too sure about those new Stellar Anomalies presets, though--they mostly make me feel like I'm either floating in the sky or underwater, and sometimes both at once! WAIT... that's actually kinda nice. Okay, unsurprisingly, I'm quite fond of them all and I do hope YOU enjoy them too!

FUN FACT: The names of the presets were mostly derived from a particular video game I was playing at the time when I created them. Bonus points if you can name it...
