  • The sampler is fun for pulling in material and chopping it up and rearranging it quickly and then resampling. You can use a preset grid or a beat slice function. Or choose to play each slice at the different pitch or direction. Good for completly mangling things.

There's one demo video at the moment: and the if you watch it just for the times when the sampler is being used, you'll get a pretty good idea of what the sampler part does. Fun stuff.

But anyone with both an iPad and a Rytm simply has to get the app. They would be mad not to.

  • Hmm are you saying It loads from iTunes but doesn't sample from the itunes library Ie play trck, grab snippet?

I understand (mostly :). And thank you for responding. I suppose for those of us without the hardware the question is: Once you've sampled and mangled can you then copy/export the noise you've made?

  • It seems to try to load from the iTunes library. I tried that out - but song length files seemed just too much for it to handle. But it integrates with Audioshare and Audiopaste, so the iTunes import seems fairly redundant to me.

  • @JohnnyGoodyear Send to Audioshare: easy!

  • Bueno Mister Bennor, bueno...

Would be great to clarify all that can be done with strom without a Rytm for those who have no intention of getting one.

  • Bought it. Is there any way to access a manual? The demo loop shows some of whats possible, but some instructions on the sampler functions would be helpful.

  • When I try to resample some pad play, it seems to record the audio from the condenser mic as well, anyone else experiencing this?

No manual just yet, check the elektronaughts forum link I posted earlier

Over here it is ONLY recording from the mic. I'm sure a button needs pushing or a prayer needs said.

  • I thought for sure you could select the I put from that I I/o symbol on the top right but alas I was wrong :(

I won't be using this with a Rytm, and in light of that I'm looking forward to more information, like is there anything useful in the iap for non- Rytm users?

  • It's resampling the internal audio through the external mic. Hm I wonder, shouldn't it be resampling internally?

  • I am puzzled, but expect to be enlightened (although I've been this way for many years so I wouldn't wait around on my account).

  • There are various hidden fuctions in the UI. Long press on record brings up a choice between "default/resample". Bounce only appears when latch is engaged.

  • BTW, from the dev in a post at the Elektronauts forum:

(Audiobus is) "not in 1.0, but planned for an update. Audiobus/InterApp audio in Strom will likely be more focused on using the app as realtime slicer /glitcher effect or something like that, and sending the output to other apps for recording will also be useful. but haven't worked on it yet & can't promise anything."

  • and what does bounce do?

Nice! I was looking for resample.

It does appear without latch too, but only while your finger is touching the sample.

  • but what does it do?

  • i have not been able to get any fx going, anybody know how?

  • Makes a new sample based on the currently selected slices

  • ok will have to try this, made myself pass out earlier trying to figure out how to resample hahaha lets try some bouncing

  • you know anything about how to get the fx going, I would love a few short steps if anyones gott'em

  • I'm guessing the whole bottom page including the fx is for the hardware control

  • I hope not, that would really lessen the value of the resample function greatly

  • I think firejan is right though.

  • I can confirm FX is hardware control only. The entire second page of the UI (with the matrix of pads) is for hardware control only.

  • The latch is a pretty cool sequencer in this app I was happy to learn.

  • yeah the latch is interesting, when in latch mode what determines how many times a slice will repeat or not?

  • edited October 2014

the latch remembers the order you touch the slices in, the number of times you touched each of them and the pitch and direction you touched each slice each time in and it plays it all in that sequence
