  • This year 2023 is not finish …. And we got so wonderful synth release that are so different that there are no winner but multiple winners.

2023seems to be a « grand cru » as we say for wines…..

That's why I said so far, I want to know your favorite at the moment

  • Buttersynth, obvs 😉

  • Hilda the only one that boost my creativity in higher level

  • edited May 2023

1/ Butter (easily best synth on iOS of all time for me)
    2/ Hilda
    3/ Fabfilter Twin3

I am actually surprised i can’t remember any other synth release this year, the other few i had in mind were surprisingle released in 2022 … I feel i forgit some but can’t remember :-)))

  • I think Buttersynth may be the best iOS synth ever made but Hilda is my personal favorite so far. Buttersynth is very close, though. And I’ll be getting Twin3 next week so this could change.

I really can’t recommend it enough. It breaks new ground for the iOS synth market, imo.

    maybe this helps 👹👹👹

  • Tera Pro of course for the feedback signal capability. Opens much wider horizons.

I just wish @VirSyn will consider adding 2 new synthesis IAPs :

    • multi-samples player (as source),
    • particules engine (being able to granularize any incoming signal)

This would be like an Iridium and heaven on iOS.

  • Hilda and buttersynth are at the top

I got Twin 3 very good sounds but not the best to use and enjoy , the GUI was made for Desktop rather iOS.

  • So far Twin 3...but I haven't started exploring Buttersynth yet so we'll see...

Yes please. A granulizer in Tera Pro would be amazing.

    June 2022

So if we focus on 2023 best ones it is out of the scope.

Hilda , King of FM (although that’s a rompler)and Copperhead …cause I think those three were the only ones so far to be on the iPhone as of yet 🧐

I was very surprised of what people can do with Hilda on an iPhone. The GUI in one screen help a lot.

Brainz synthesis IAP was released in feb 2023.
I think what matters the most is what is the best synth to date. And year 2023 is not even half passed.

I love Twin 3 and Hilda (so inspiring) a whole lot, but Buttersynth is the clear winner for me too, so far. It is a labor of love… the developer publicly tested it for a long time to get a very complex, powerful synth to be user-friendly and it sounds “hardware-like” fantastic (makes me think of Waldorf Iridium/Quantum) - the bar has been raised very high in 2023!

  • Yeah king of FM is a romper, not a synth, so doesn't strictly count, but is probably the best freebie (pity the filter is terrible but the sounds are great). Buttersynth seems the most versatile, with excellent sound quality and a bunch of great presets, including many from talented beta testers like Dendy. Hilda has amazing sound quality and is the most experimental and fun, and also very easy to grasp.

I totally agree , 2023 could be the game changer year for iOS music

Also, remember that Pianoteq is a synth, although how tweakable it is will depend what level of license you go for and it is easily the best in terms of technical achievement.

i am glad that i am not the only one who hear rhis .. classic audiokit filter, found in all AK plugins, absolutely unisable on high resonance :-)))

Yeah sounds are great cause they are sampled from great HW synths but here i would prefer to have just those samples to be able load them into good quality sampler, with good filters, effects and other modulation features 🤣

Also, remember that Pianoteq is a synth

Hm it is synth - physical modelling ? I thought it is also just rompler (instill think it is, otherwise it would make no sense that it has few hundreds of megabytes)

I have disabled all my Audiokit apps from over one year. I will don’t again download any Audiokit. Nothing against the devs but there are serious reasons for that I don’t want to explain it is my personal choice.

I am a bit skeptic here… few great plugins is nice progress/evolution but for game changing conditions there is need really something radical - like full blown DAW from some big player optimalised for iPad - and i really don’t expect we will see anything like that at least in next 5-8 years

This.. i have no problem to say it loudly that i don’t like AK plugins, and i also do not suggest to anybody who want start with DSP coding AK framework - there are dramatically better frameworks like Juce or iPlug2. If plugin is made with AK that’s for me always strong “no-go”.

I know all is in the hands of Apple. Dev on iOS have a lot of Apple limitations.

Biggest problem is pricing model and relatively small market, not technical issues .

Nothing to say more you are dev like I was in the past so we know framework issues.
