Yeah it's physical modeling! Not sure what causes the size because there is zero use of sampling in Pianote, but I know that when I downloaded the free instruments I got with the Stage license, all of them together, harpsichords, pianos, electric piano, clavichord etc, only took up around 4 mb
And yes with King of FM or whatever, currently if you need a good filter it is best to just use something else - actually since you can load Hilda as an fx and it has excellent and diverse filters, that could be a good choice for many, or Fab Filter Volcano etc.
Makes me wonder, what is the best free resonant filter app 🤔
Hilda
Butter
Copperhead
... Um was Mela 3 really 2022?
For Apple to bring Logic Pro or whatever you name it it is not a pricing issue but I don’t think people can expect it. If they do that other like Cubasis should follow. It can be on the model of you buy LogicPro and you got the iOS or to have higher pricing for the top future apps that are top VST.
But at the end Apple control the AppStore so I think 🤔 Apple limits iOS.
But I never been on the music dev, never been too on Mac dev and never been concern in my past by pricing model.
Hold that thought..Mela 4 is releasing soon 😎
Mela 4 will be fun without spilling too many beans
Yes..HOLD THE BEANS!! 😎
Really??!! Lol I'm only just digging into Mela 3 I had no idea that 4 was incoming
My guess is FM from NFM implemented and more of those lovely midi FX and.... ....some other stuff too.
Butter is impressive too wow. I didn’t know about it until Hilda. Does Mela have the same multi modal syntheses approach like those two or is more traditional in the virtual analog sense of the definitions (from that wiki/list thread?)
Looks like it’s the year for powerhouses as it’s not even half Christmas yet
Will buy mela 4. Although didnt really use other melas. Thinking what apps Id keep on ipad and thinking I need to buy yet another va. When got most. Just not zeeon, Trooper etc.
but you can buy icegear apps for a bit more than £5. So all the extra £5 for mela upgrades are an icegear app.
I like nambu UI but get mixed reviews for lagrange and dont really need another synth anyway.
Although talking cheap.
Mela 4 needs to be much better in terms of micro budgeting.
That said. The philosophy of ugrading the same synth, shouldnt really affect sales.
What im saying is.
Another £5 upgrade for a synth thats better than other synths which might even be £20 or even £30.
A steal.
It probably will be.
So paying £30 overall for upgrades of same synth ( trivial )
I guess I were just in the mood for typing.
Super stoked for this one. Mela has consistently been a favorite of mine since #1 launched. Plus the midi and audio effects make it even better. A triple threat! 😎
3 synths which dosent include Id be using loads of additional synths.
Main synths on main synth ipad.
Drambo wavetable. Because of UI though. Theres 2 ( 1 osc ) wavetable synths. 8 envelopes and 8 lfo per synth. Set in Drambo to midi always. Can record sequence to be syned with a semi global keyboard or use Drambo keyboard to un-sync sequences and maybe un-sync more with Drambo sequencer module or midi editing.
Inspired envelope and lfo amount wise by Twin 3. Which would route xlfo via app and then Drambo envelope to modulate lfos. 4 oscilator and per oscilator adsr.
Nambu. 6 op fm. Per oscilator adsr.
Its not modular but not hindered by synth designs.
I’m a little surprised nobody’s mentioned Dagger. Amazing filters and the most hardware like knobs I’ve played with on iOS.
I would have to say Dagger; Hilda is more impressive and way cooler but as a synth, dagger is pretty darn strong. Does anyone else like it equally with Hilda like me but want to give dagger some props too? Lol no it’s a tough call, but I would say honorable mention dagger
(Edit - oops JDP just said dagger ^)
Tera Pro, all the add-ons have taken it over the top.
Hilda for me. Dagger is really good but the sounds that can one get from Hilda are amazing to me. And it can be used as an effect too
I was just thinking the same and when I re-opened the thread to say that, yours was the first comment to pop.
Guess great minds think alike, huh?
But for the most innovative I vote Hilda and Dagger, in no particular order.
For the most complete and inspiring “conventional” synth, I vote Butter
I believe so.
Nope. Brainz came out in Feb this year and FM module like a month ago. Waves came out last year.
For iPadOS? I have to agree. Tera Pro is extraordinary.
I was just referring to the app as a whole but yes major parts of it did come out this year. If we’re counting IAPs as part of the thread then I’d say both of those rank high for me.
Can't agree more, with late last year Wavetable osc, Brainz and DX7 it feels like Tera Pro 2.0.
…And it’s new to iPhone this year
(happily helping crow bar Tera Pro into 2023 because it’s so good)
