  • After more experimenting, by the way, I am now seeing having some audio input affect the modulation window 👍

I bought it. Hopefully it’ll work on intel Mac’s like all his other apps do

    hello! thanks!
sorry, this time i didn't test & post the intel version (though this one would work on M1+ chips) but i guess i'll do that if this may be needed.
I expect this app to be mostly a performance tool so i guess it's much more interesting to use it with a touch screen. But still it's probably useful for some noises in the DAW

No worries. Thanks anyway. It wouldn’t make much sense without touch.

If you use the sustain function you could definitely use it with a mouse

That’s true but will have to wait until I get a silicon Mac. It works well on an iPhone though and is very Jam friendly for those who like a bit of noise. It’s great that the other AN apps turn up on intel Mac’s. Hardly anyone else bothers.

This is going to feature heavily in my Drone Day song this year

Drone Day?? How do I now know about this? 😮

I’m experimenting with using MIDILFOs to automate the XY parameters, using it on 50/50 mix with the original sound source, getting some good results from that. It’s not a spectacular app, but does have sweet spots and allow some live interaction with my generative midi driven stuff, so I think it will find a niche with me, don’t regret the purchase.

Great idea! Gonna try that tonight. Side note: how is MidiLFO? I have a couple other LFO apps like mLFO and LFOH! but never got that one. Does it do anything unique or would it add anything I don’t already have?

I still haven’t got round to properly checking out mLFO. MidiLFOs has a beautiful interface, it is a joy to use. In general I wold grab it over LFOH. Each instance contains 4 lfos and you can modulate the amplitude and rate of any given lfo with the lfo of another one. I just love the UI of Art Kern’s apps. MidiLFOs and midiGATEs get a lot of use from me!

I second Gav’s endorsement. I have the other two he mentioned, and at least one (I can’t remember which) also works on Audio sources which, as the name suggest, MIDILFOs doesn’t. A useful niche case. But it is MIDILFOs and the companion MIDIgates which feature on virtually everything I do, an essential part of my toolkit, each with a very clear ‘does what it looks like’ UI. Fab apps, both of them.

You turned me on to midi gates initially. Thanks a lot for that!

Thanks guys! Is midigates just a gate effect in the vain of Gatelab, Flux, etc? I have it on my list but haven’t bought it yet. It seems great and I do love the look of the interface.

mLFO is a great one and seems to do most of what MidiLFO can unless I’m mistaken but MidiGates may be something I can use.

Also @Svetlovska LFOH can work as an au effect as well as midi effect. Maybe that’s the one you’re thinking of?

  • Midigates is a bit different from flux etc, really. Its focus is on probability. Have a quick look at the very short manual. There are Mozaic scripts that do some of what it does but I don't think all, though I could be wrong. Not to mention, as truly great and revolutionary as Mozaic is, the UI is pretty ugly whereas this UI is lovely.

Oh so this is focusing on just the probability of the gate itself? That could be interesting. Maybe I wrongfully overlooked this one. Agreed about Moziac. I just recently got it but the Ui is not the best. It’s a really incredible app though.

  • love this app so much! was wondering if anyone else is getting just some harsh digital clipping sounds when sending audio through? i’m aware that it’s inherent sound is pretty clippy lol but this sounds like a clipping ON TOP of it’s natural sound. i’ve tried all my tweaking but it still seems to be there. is this just part of it? or does anyone have any tricks to tame the clipping sound. thanks!

  • I liked the app before but all the additions take it next level. Very intuitive to use for satisfyingly experimental sounds.
