Oh man, it does work, but what a pain to set up. In fact, I'm probably too lazy to use it like this and may just resort to using multiple instances of the same plugin instead.
I had to use a youtube guide to figure it out. It was the "replace plugin" part of the process that was eluding me. Hammerhead has no separate multi-out version and the additional outputs are always available, so I was assuming that the replace action wasn't necessary in this case. But you always need to do it.
Restarting Logic wasn't needed though.
...have a feeling the AUv3 Multi-Out features is still a bit 'half baked', otherwise we would directly be able to select the 'Multi Out' version of an AUv3 instead of having to do the 'Replace Thing'. Also It doesn't work with every multi-out capable app yet.
I'm happy that I got the OG Ruismakers to work as they are still clear favorites of mine after all these years.
My guess is that there will be a more straightforward way to do this in a future update to Logic for iPad.
You denititely doesn't need to create busses BEFORE you replace plugin with it's multi out variant.
Only bug what is there is when you are adding instrument to project, even when you choose multi output version, logic doesn't activate posibility to select its other outputs in buses. Just immediately after you add multi out instrument to project just directly replace it with it's multi out version again and now it is loaded correctly, and you can start creating busses and assign proper instrument outs to those busses
Not neede to create buses beforehand

Maybe this will help some. Just came across it a few min ago
What ever happened to "It just works"?
It's now "It just barely works" lol
Okay, got multiout working with Ruismaker FM and wow, that’s a pretty rough interaction. Hopefully they can get it acting more like the desktop version soon. I did have to restart Logic, maybe because it was the first time I had loaded the multi-out version of the plugin?
Another vid that might help
Any one get this working with FAC Drumkit and Drumcomputer or Sitala? I got it working with Ruismaker apps but not the others.
I've gotten most of the Multi-Out capable AUv3's I've got to work, FAC Drumkit and Koala being a few of them...
...will take Sitala for a spin later on. If I recall correctly the multi-out has to be enabled in the AUv3 before it works properly.
I'm quite sure a more streamlined solution for handling Multi-Out AUv3's will pop up in a later update...
Thanks @Samu Will try this. Yeah, it might be order of operations. I can just make templates for things once I get it working.
For Koala, the AUv3 UI has to be brought up on screen after loading a saved Logic project otherwise it will not make any sound.
Ruismaker, Ruismaker FM also work without any major issues.
jfc, tons of videos, and all repeating again and again same unnecessary overcomplicated method .. (facepalm)
It's simple as f**k. Don't overcomplicate things when it is not needed 😂
done. now you can add busses….
+1
Doesn't work with all AUv3 plug-ins so I guess that I also depends on how AUV3 multi-out was implemented in the app?!
But yes, that is one of the most straight forward ways to do it...
which one doesn’t work ?
For example HammerHead Requires a bus to be preset before the Multi-Out option shows up when 'replacing' it. But not always, sometimes a relaunch of Logic Is needed...
Huh, hammerhead has multi outputs ? I don’t even see them in AUM 😂
Maybe problem is with those who don’t use separate Multi-out instance.
edit: ok i see now..
App restart usually solves it...
Your method is by fart the simplest one, well done!!!
my simple method works for me also with Hammerhead... i just added it and then immediately replaced and there was multi output option... not needed to add busses beforehand
Yepp!
Most AUv3 actually do work right away...
...if the multi-out is 'missing' (from a 'known' multi-out capable AUv3) restarting Logic usually brings it back.
Whoa…Dendy can’t unsubscribe now..Logic 4 life lol
Nice thanks for the tips!!!
BTW you can make an user patch of your Multiout AUV3 setup, no need to set everything everytime. It seems that when you slide your patch on a track, there is no sound initially, you have to tap transport briefly to hear it. Odd bug but despite that it works well.
Sweet - thanks for this. Definitely a time saver!
The first time around there is no option for multiple outputs showing up in Logic in any multi-out app I’ve tried. When app is replaced the multi option shows up. Wonder if that’s an issue with Logic or with the info the app is feeding to Logic. Anyway thanks @dendy for the tips.
I guess we might find out around about when the first update is released. If this is a bug in Logic it’s likely to be fixed, if not I really hope that Apple provide devs with guidance on what to change… but my money is on the first.
Drambo Multi-Out working fine here!
Finally figured out how to do multi-out in DrumComputer. I saved the project as a template so I wouldn’t ever have to go through that convoluted set up again!
So happy for all the tips here! I got multi out to work with koala sampler which is G R E A T !!
The only issue is I’m having a heck of a time trying to get side chain compression working from one Logic Pro Aux channel with a kick drum to another Logic Pro Aux channel with a melodic loop. Anyone try something similar? The side chain pull down menu in compressor plugin show’s my instrument as an option but none of my fancy new multi out aux channels being fed by Koala
You can try to show the aux as a track and after that you should be able to select it.
