  • @MobileMusicPro :We all miss you..Logic Pro for iPad has so far shown tons of promise but in the end has been a colossal letdown..Obviiosly Apple has other priorities..Steenberg has NEVER waited this long to update Cubasis..Maybe they’re good and pissed at Apple and are preparing their just desserts in Cubasis 4. GO STEINBERG!

Hopefully Cubasis update due soon then now 13 out on big brother. These chord progressions pads would be nice to have.

Nice, hope this is good news. I’ve heard rumors of a C3 update for a few weeks now, so maybe they’re true.

  • Hi @Telstar5, Hi @HotStrange, Hi all,

    Hope you're all well!

We're working on the next Cubasis update - but it will not be Cubasis 4!
I will keep you updated once ready... :)

    Best,
    Lars

  • Excellent news .( I hope you guys include real MIDI controller:MIDI learn functionality. Zenbeats is an example of superior hardware midi learn if you wanted a reference but Above all else better hardware integration please!)

Cubasis is STILL the gold standard for iPad in my humble opinion, but I used ZB3 for midi mapping to knobs for Turnado, as example.

    Thanks Lars

I will be keep using Cubasis.

-It does mostly what I want
    - My iPad is too old (iPad pro 10.5 2017)
    - Don’t care for subscrition (lets not start that debate again) 🙅🏻‍♂️ 🙅🏼

    Anybody else ?

Hopefully Steinberg as something in the can to compete.

We need some new IAP to support them.

In my opinion Reaper has an extremely competitive pricing model that is very tough to beat for sustainability. Subscription models pose a risk to how much user base interest can be lost immediately or over time. Under priced software on the other hand does not encourage dedicated dev support. Reaper’s approach that charges a very fair price for full ownership and support up to a pre-disclosed software version is an outstanding solution.

What’s not to like about a solution that creates a happy, well supported user base and fair compensation with some regularity for the devs.

@ecou to your point about IAP funding this is why I fully support @Lars and his team to introduce a pricing structure that charges for new updates accordingly after a certain maintenance cycle has been reached. $50 for a DAW is practically free and as a user base you can only guess and hope for what kind of long term support and competitive features you can expect at that price point.

Again to reference Reaper, users can always opt to forfeit updates beyond a certain point if they are happy with the feature set and stability of the last software version they purchased and only pay for the latest updates once they need additional features and support. This option to me seems appealing and sustainable compared to subscriptions or under priced software.

Thanks @Lars and team for all your hard work.

  • Michael still knew what he was doing with loopy pro, high enough buy in price to not worry about a repeat customer but software so good he could bet on a repeat customer wanting to upgrade. And it’s when they want. Loopy Pro should be the model for all software; you buy the license or the current build and that’s a year of updates, past that, update when you need to. Anyway as I said before a Cubasis 4 lands, I just wanted one more update to 3.75 that was purely hardware integration for midi controllers. Worse comes to worst, Zb3 can be used for Turnado and knob /fader effects.

Yes 🙌🏻 thanks Lars, happy there’s something in the pipeline.

  • @LFS Thanks for the heads up…Sure would like to see full fledged Cubase for iPad…

„I hope you guys include real MIDI controller:MIDI learn functionality“
    I don‘t understand. It‘s implemented since v3.3.

    Have a look here
    https://www.steinberg.net/cubasis/update/

What Was New In Cubasis 3.3

MIDI Learn, Mackie Control (MCU) and HUI protocol support

Easily control Cubasis remotely, via your external controller. Enable MIDI Learn and simply move a knob or fader on your controller to assign it to a selected parameter. What’s more, you can load existing presets for your controller or save your own. And if your controller supports the Mackie Control (MCU) or HUI protocols, you’re covered right away too. Yes, it’s that easy.

No problems with my KORG nanoKONTROL Studio - via Bluetooth too.

More Informations here under ‚MIDI Learn‘

  • @Iskander : I had a Korg NANO key w said Bluetooth. Way too slow

The WorkingCopy licensing model, also used by Loopy Pro represents the best solution- for both customers and developers!

Hopefully. But the real proof is whether it works income-wise for Michael. It hasn't been long enough for even him to know that for the long term, I suspect. Theory is one thing. Still needs to prove out in the real world.

I’ll rephrase the request. Please have the AUv3 parameters fully exposed so they can have the green overlay to touch - and map - … so maybe or hopefully they have updated their AU paramater menu/options

When activated the midi ‘learn’ function only responds to native Cubasis plugins as of the v3.3 update. Many 3rd party devs have made their AUV3 plugins compatible with midi learn but for the feature to work within Cubasis with those 3rd party plugins as well it appears Steinberg needs to implement a further compatibility update.

As a good example of this discussion you can search on the topic and see a response that came from Fabfilter explaining the issue.

The question is if we'll get an update this year or the next?
My best guess was 'Cyber Monday' (Today) but they missed that one already...

For me the wait is a 'make or break' for Cubasis 3 to remain installed on my iPad.
If the next update doesn't deliver a tempo-track, an improved sampler (ie. cubase sampler track), pattern sequencer for drums and instruments, plug-in search etc. I'm ready to forget Cubasis even exists for the iPad...

...yes it's harsh approach but it's 2023 FFS and being a desktop Logic user it's quite clear where I'm heading during 2024 and going on forward...

I’m somewhat tempted to agree I just need all my plugins to work correctly in Logic before I can consider changing over. I just much prefer C3s UI, but it definitely needs those features to properly compete.

That+drag to loop clips or adding the clip launcher to Cubasis would be perfect.

That's a tall order. Maybe pick one or two would be more realistic to the kinda updates we got in the past.

  • Has anyone managed to get Cubasis 3 to work with the Steinberg UR22mkii interface and the Apple Camera Connection Kit(legit version). I’m running IOS 16.4.1 into the latest Cubasis 3.0 version.

No matter what order I plug things in I keep getting the Accessory Not Supported message.Frustrating as hell.

Any helps/suggestions most gratefully received, thank you.

@tja :Believe me I thought about it before I wrote it..I guessed it’ld still be some kind of Cubasis on iPad even if it’s pro.

Harsh on who? It doesn't hurt Steinberg. They already have your money. 😉

I used to have that interface and it worked great for me. Did you plug the lightning power at the same time as the interface?

Thanks for the reply ecou…I think I may need to get a specific Type A/B USB 2 cable.Looks like the device is rather particular on the cables required.I’ll try that and see how it goes, cheers.

You can either use lightning AV Adapter

    https://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/MD826AM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter?fnode=b25b570be3b4a5375bb002f0d97200ae085b6c8dcaa6165ce03ae39965b28177eae51a17b1e6a9aedda0d35643d91e95c87ac84e8d76bebb493592d26d824ee7dc90caf43114576b49335a3cf551307832f6bd7dc964dededef4b7e8310fef98bc4e40090930489889a83707892153e3

If you have the adapter that is only usb, if my memory saves me well i think you can plug the lightning connector a the back f the UR22mkii.

Their is also a switch for the power over usb or thru lightning.
