Pulp Logic is so awesome, nice setup

  • That’s dope @nerVe

  • Not sure about putting it all in a case, but I do need to sort out a mobile rig to take to a local open mic this week…

Nice, is the iPad velcroed in? How are you integrating the Eurorack?

  • I have this case for my Zoom R8 multi track recorder, headphone, some pedals, and a power source.

The price is low, and the good thing is, you can remove the top. The build quality is reasonable, not very rugged. I can imagine you use this case for a mixer, power source, cables, a small controller, and I pad or a groove box.

  • Hell yeah!

Awesome. Pretty much what I want in my case: ipad, interface, a midi controller, mic, and hardware synth. What a kind of case is that?

    Very cool. Looks Star Trekky.

That's looking good. How are you going to mount the iPad in there? Carve out some dense foam for shock protection to prevent damage if the whole kit is dropped?

Just a case I found at a yard sale.

The circuit tracks is just a controller in this case. I got fed up with the clock sync drift and needing to save sessions on two different devices.

This is its younger sibling. Not using it much these days though.

That's pretty nice too. What gooseneck mic are you using? Looking to get one.

Mmm, no idea. I bought it a while ago and there’s no brand or model on it. I’ve tried using cheap condensers but zoom u44 has no pad so it was clipping on the input. Behringer makes a cheap talkback mic but I’ve never tried it and being ‘talkback’ means that it isn’t likely to be comparable to industry standard from Shure etc. when it comes to vocals.

Sorry can’t be much help here.

I’m not sure…I have not had time to finish it…I have a few other setups taking precedent…

I think it would be great to build a small battery operated speaker system in the case too. Then the case can be used stand alone.

  • Although not shown in this photo the iPad is often an integral part of this. My rule is its "got to fit in 2 guitar pedal cases" although i'm thinking i might amend that and say "3 guitar pedal cases" :-)

Everything is patched and just needs power and a few audio/midi connections between the cases and I'm good to go.

Great to see you made this wooden panel with holes in the case to attach the gear. I have a case with my Zoom recorder, and the bottom is still the original foam, and my devices can move/wiggle or get detached after a while. I think I will use your solution too.

  • @kitejan my gosh you have all the little things. Have you looked at the Lemondrop, Fireball, or the Razmataz by 1010music?

Velcro plays a large part as well (doesn't it always?) - the "rough" part is attached on the wooden panel, and the "soft" part to the underside of the devices - keeps things pretty much in place. I tried (and mostly failed) to keep the underside neat for all the power/audio in/audio out/sync/midi cables - again lots of velcro acting as cable ties - but it all works as planned.

Last weekend I managed to squeeze in (just) a Roland S-1 which involved an overhaul of the order of some of the devices and their respective cabling. Going to need a few more low profile right angled 3.5mm cables :-)

Of course I never had this trouble when just using Nanostudio 1 on an iPad.

Yes, of course. But resisted temptation (so far!). I did think about the Lemondrop as a possible replacement for the Microgranny for granular duties - but in the end I kept things as they were. The jury is still out for the Nunomo Qun Mk2. I'm trying to be realistic given I have a load of apps on the iPad, but these small hardware gadgets are a lot of fun (so long as they can fit into 2 or 3 flight cases :-) ). For example, the current preparations for a live set required a granular processing of computer room noise that would sound a little bit like water drops (don't ask - it all makes perfect sense in my head). After a bit of head scratching I thought "why not bung it into Borderlands, record more or less what I want at the BPM of that section, then stick that into the Microgranny to either play, or be mangled even further". Which is what I did.

  • @kitejan link to music made by your mini orchestra?

  • edited June 2023

Yes certainly - the last 2 live outings (with iPad & AUM - as this is an iOS music forum after all  ):

And left to own devices for a rainy morning whilst on holiday in Scotland with just an iPad (+ Orba acting as a Bluetooth controller) you get:

You can find these (and others) for listening/download at https://acollectionofnotes.bandcamp.com/

My case is a still a cable and dust mess, and the Korg Mini drumcomputer doesn't fit. I do have a speaker in the case, old JBL dock for Ipod classic, with a decent sound. I have no space in my house for a larger case.

The idea is to first record a basic drum track with the Korg, I sequence this manually, let it run, count, and switch presets or add fills when needed. And the Quint pedal is to record bass lines with my guitar. I mostly stick to 2-3 minute tracks to catch some ideas or to jam along. I also have a Trio+ pedal if I want a more sophisticated drum and bass track.

I did try to incorporate the Ipad with the Lumbeat drummers, but in a way it slows me down. I prefer working totally screenless, or just in the box with Ipad only.
