SpaceVibe - AB & IAA update out now

edited October 2014 in General App Discussion

Quirky little synth, great for drones and soundscapes etc. Audiobus will be available in the first update in approx 1 month.

  • I will wait until there are some reviews, videos, or sound demos available. Right now the website is "under construction" so no info at all available. Does LOOK promising....

  • Works just fine as per the store description. The seller got back to me straight away re AB implementation. The only way to get recordings out of app is by email at the moment. These are wav's though at least. If you like things like Strange Attractor, Giant Isopod etc. you'll probably enjoy this.

Dev has link to this thread.

  • Wait? What is this wait of which you speak?

  • You could achieve similar effects to this by using the morph pads in Phawuo and running it through AUFX:Dub or Space perhaps.

  • is there at least one video somewhere?

  • Doesn't appear to be.

  • Dev says that videos are coming and will advise when available.

  • I just bought this and like it.

Very simple. 2 pads really. One for noise and one for frequency.

Makes some interesting spacey sounds and useful for weird transitions (risers and drops)... Maybe.

  • In the weird economy of apps and our relative expectations this feels EXPENSIVE. But I bought it because I have a feeling that some apps are worth buying because somewhere along the line I'm going to be supporting (in a small way) a developer who may yet be three or four apps out from something I'm going to love.

In this case, well, who knows, maybe. For now I'd take some AB and I have no doubt I will get some great noise out of this in combination with something in the effects slot. Can I make great weird noise already elsewhere? Sure. But I'm drawn to apps that don't do too much, but do a lot with what they do.

For now it's in the wait and see folder.

  • Heres my demo vid for SPACEVIBE, got some nice stuff from this, looking forward to AB

  • Nice vid Doug. You didn't mention that using a two finger pinch on either of the pads changes the frequency. It actually happened at one stage there though.

  • does this app have core midi, i don't see any mention of it in the app description but with the ability to save patches I really hope it also has core midi, virtual midi and the ability to play in different scales, keys, etc…?

  • also I hope they implement record/copy/paste before audiobus

  • what would really be dope and make me get this app right now is if the xy pads can snap to scales, you've got two xy pads right, can someone say whether both of them could snap to individual scales/ keys?

  • Doug in your video it looks like you can only store 8 presets, that's not right is it cause with something like this you'd want to be able to store hundreds of presets. please tell me i'm wrong :)

  • None of the above.....yet

  • Is this app multi-touch? In Doug's Video he seems to be using only one finger on one side of the pad at a time. Can you actually use both pads at the same time?

  • You can use both pads at the same time and using a two finger pinch on either pad changes the frequency

  • Here's a new video of the app.

If anyone is interested in BETA testing the Audiobus implementation drop me an email at [email protected] with a description of your setup and a bit of background on your music experience.

Most feature requests in this thread are going to wind up in the app...as they were mostly all in the works already - Keep them coming.

    Thanks

  • @SpaceVibe I will defer to smarter folks on the testing, but good instinct on your part...

  • loved the video mr. spacevibe and could not resist to purchase it thank you for a great app and please add copy/paste to your export options. I heard you mention audio bus and audio drop but copy/paste is essential. Your app is so fuckin cool!

  • @SpaceVibe what about adding a lock button to hold the touch point while you adjust the frequency? Either per pad or a global option.
If not a lock button, maybe adjusting the frequency by swiping above the pads somewhere?

Will AB be just as an input or as an effect too?

  • @kobamoto - thanks I'm glad you like it.

Copy/paste looks fairly easy to add what apps are you working with that support it?

  • @thinds - AB will start out as input-only. I can add that fairly easily.

Supporting the AB effect bus isn't as straightforward. If it sounds good I can add it on a later update.

As far as freezing the pitch when you adjust the max frequencies goes yeah I like that idea so it goes on the pile. Also frees up the graphs for some multi-touch options.

  • I primarily use Sector,Samplr,Impc pro, yellofier, protein der klang, and audioshare.

  • Version 1.0.1 is now available for download.

Fixes the disappearing knob controls bug.

  • Nice to see an update already. I only had the missing knobs issue once, first time I used the app. After a restart I couldn't duplicate it. I had assumed it was user error.
