Update will be here in the not too distant future. Audiobus with state-saving and other improvements. Lots of sonic fun to be had with this.

Sounds great running through Swoopster, Crystalline and Sliver. Weird arps and bleeps in Turnado and WOW. Also really great sounds from Mobile Convolution with preset like the very long Taj Mahal loaded. Unfortunately iPad2 struggles with some of this.

Introductory offer ends too, so there will be a price rise.

Update was submitted to Apple today. Lots of refinements and new features.

    • Added support for iOS 8

    • Added Support for Audiobus 2 and state-saving.

    • Added the ability to play the following scales in any key :

      • Major, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian, Natural Minor, Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor
    • Added a Settings panel with options for :

      • Saving finger locations on pads with presets. this allows for more dramatic preset changes.

      • Saving maximum delay range with presets. Choosing no means the max delay range will apply to all presets.

      • Smooth Fade between presets - here you can specify variable time from 100ms to 500ms to 'slur' the presets as you change them.

      • Delay Time Range is now adjustable from 25ms to 10000ms.

    • Added 4 new preset buttons for a total of 12.

    • Added a Preset Group saving feature. This lets you save your presets in groups of 12.

    • Added color-coded presets. The active preset now shows green when selected and it will show red if modified.

SpaceVibe requires iPad3 and newer on iOS8.

Compatible with all iPads running iOS7.

    >

Is that a limitation only on the new version which is likely to change in a future updates ? Or will I be forever limited to iOS7 on my ipad2 ?

  • Don't know the answer to that. I'm sure @SpaceVibe can shed some light.

  • I like the way this Dev thinks, that fade between presets feature is just the kind of creative thinking I look for in apps and devs.

thank you Mr. Spacevibe! looking forward to this.

  • @gsm909 the short term outlook is bleak I'm afraid for iPad 2's, inter-app audio and iOS8. There are issues at work here outside of my control. Most apps I've tried couldn't operate properly on iOS8/iPad2 with inter-app audio. Unfortunately it is not likely to get addressed either. It would appear the demands of inter-app audio and iOS8 outstrip the horsepower rating of the iPad 2...

for the technically inclined this should clear up why:

The iPad 3rd Gen models are powered by a dual-core 1 GHz Apple A5X processor with quad core graphics whereas the iPad 2 models have an older dual-core Apple A5 processor with a single graphics processor. Apple does not formally release the amount of RAM in any iPad device, but the third-party Geekbench benchmark has confirmed that the iPad 3rd Gen models have 1 GB of RAM whereas the iPad 2 only has 512 MB of RAM.

  • @kobamoto :

I'd love to take credit for that one but @thinds persuaded me to add the slurring effect...

  • :) well then thank you Thinds, please keep the good ideas coming, and thank you Space V. for implementing a good thing when you hear it.

  • Really looking forward to these updates. I enjoy SpaceVibe quite a bit, and am anxious to run this through the AUFX or Holderness effects apps!

  • It excels through Swoopster and Crystalline but not so well through some reverbs. Great through Sliver and plenty of others too. I got great results with really long IR's using Mobile Convolutuion that almost sound like a Hammond B3.

I think @SpaceVibe will be putting a few presets on his webpage and I can also post here.

yeah it sounds absolutely amazing with Crystalline and Swoopster... those two are the best effects i've found so far for matching up with SpaceVibe - by far.

Yes there'll be an audiobus presets section at spacevibe.com soon where i'll have some sample presets for folks to download.

  • @SpaceVibe, thanks for the info re iPad2, looks like i have to stop buying apps, and start saving for a nice new iPad (i already had a word with Santa , and iPad Air is out of her price range)

  • Update should be available now.

  • Yep, got the update tonight. Let the space voyage through AUFX begin.

  • Like the new features and these presets are great!

  • Thanks for the presets. I'll have a play.

  • Just a couple of clarifications. Although @SpaveVibe recommend iPad 3 and above, it will work on iPad 2, but if you load some effects and push it, there wil be glitches. Depends on how taxing to CPU the effects are.

It also works as IAA in Auria, MTDaw and AudioShare but not for some reason in Cubasis or MTS.

@thinds Thanks for the presets. Appreciated. All good except for 'SV Rooms! Swoop Throbber' for which Rooms! shows up in AB as port unavailable. 7/air. Will try again later. Plenty of deep space malarkey to get to first....

  • Seems to be an issue with Rooms! not saving state. Just load it manually if all else fails. There was nothing special set in Rooms.

I get the same issue with a few other apps. Magellan, vio etc. to varying degrees. Not just with SV.

  • More presets are now available on the SpaceVibe site.

    Hi @SpaceVibe.

To me, your great app is a bit like a new, much more expensive, VST that has recently come out called "The Riser".

It's a great vST that makes it really easy to make - you've guessed it - Risers. (And sweeps and falls etc).

It made me think that the only key thing this has over your app is it allows you to play chords (you can pick a start chord and end chord in a similar way to the range you can set in Space Vibe).

Anyway, just wondering if it's something you might consider for your app ( a setting that adds the 5th to whatever frequency you are outputting or basic major / minor chords or something).

Probably tricky - but just a thought that came to mind.

I love the recent updated functionality by the way!

  • Hi Matt - thanks I'm glad you like it!

Yeah for sure basic harmonizing and chords is something I want to add - along with MIDI so that's all likely for the next major update.

  • Great. Thanks. Look forward to it. As I say... Great app.

  • Few more presets using Igor Vasiliev's apps.
