That stupid App Store behavior of making you go the whole distance committing to pay for the plugin, and even entering your Apple ID password to confirm, only to tell you at the last, last possible time that you get it for free because you already own it is soooo nonsensical.
All they need to do is make the check of your purchases a little earlier in the process. So ridiculous!
Yeah, it’s terrible. You don’t want to know how many angry emails I’ve had to answer over the years about how I’m trying to rip people off by making them pay again.
Apple should really fix that. But if they haven’t done that after 5 years, I don’t have high hopes they ever will…
I agree. But I’d love it if this new world were one where plugin developers (who want to) could make enough money for the effort to be sustainable. After happily paying Apple $50 for their DAW, as I’m about to do, I’m not going to demand indie developers give me something for free.
I’m using the latest version, 11.3.3, I got an email the other day telling me about a new beta version but I’m using the latest public version. It’s not a big deal….tbh I forgot I even bought Woott, I haven’t used it in a while
Try launching WOOTT standalone and restart Logic and/or Ableton and see if it shows up. Logic also has an option (in plugin manager) to manually rescan for plugins, maybe there’s an option like this in Ableton too, not sure.
I think it was a wise move for Bram to start making his apps completely universal. With Logic for iPad catching the attention of those who've used the desktop version or have heard of Logic as a legitimate DAW.. there are likely going to be even more users who are interested in iOS apps that will work in the iPad version of Logic AND the desktop version.
The users on this forum are a very niche group. I know most of us here know Bram's apps are top notch and worth more than he asks. I'm sure most would gladly pay or his apps again on the desktop.
However, the much bigger piece of the pie are all the users who have never considered the iPad a viable production tool, and who are now reconsidering now that Logic is on the iPad.
As a fan of Bram's creative app design, I own all of his apps except for Hilda. I will eventually buy it, but I have so many synths now that I figured I'd wait for his next sale to complete my Bram collection.
Hilda is selling for $12. Completely reasonable and definitely a great value. Yet, as a Bram fan I didn't snap it up on launch. I decided to wait for a sale.
I can say with absolute certainty, that had Hilda been released with not only iOS/iPadOS compatibility, but ALSO macOS compatibility, I would not have been able to resist. I wouldn't have decided to wait for the next sale and would have instantly bought it.
Just sharing one buyer's psychology in that I could have justified buying yet another synth that I honestly don't really need but could have psychologically justified the purchase because I could ALSO use it in Logic on the desktop. I might've even paid a little more with that extra incentive.
Who suggested they give everything away? They should do whatever they want and they should be competitive, that's all. No one is going to get rich selling a compressor or another synth plugin. That's just reality.
I did all of that and also restarted my Mac, maybe because I’m on an Intel, which is weird because it downloaded. It was stated that it was an experiment so maybe it hasn’t been tested across Intel Macs much. Ableton doesn’t have the same type of plugin manager where you can rescan just selected plugins, I’d have to rescan all of my plugins but I have other auv3 plugins that work fine like the Moog auv3 plugins. It’s fine though, it’s not like I don’t have enough plugins on my Mac as it is lol
It should work on Intel too. I have tested on both Logic and Ableton Intel versions. And if it downloaded from the Mac App Store it should be compatible with your particular MacOS version. Strange.
Maybe try a reboot of your Mac @Strizbiz ?
Did you try it in GarageBand? It works in there on my intel Mac.
I don't have time to spell this out for you. Sorry.
Hehe okay Chief. I’ll just assume your views are super well thought-out and compelling 👍
Thanks!
@brambos love everything you do, all of your instruments and fx sound fantastic and the UX design is incredible. I have all of your stuff - except the new Hilda and 物の怪 - which I’ll have to grab asap. Thanks for bringing WOOTT to Mac as well - works great in Logic
@brambos i replied with a troll post earlier in the thread, being sarcastic etc, but just wanted to seriously comment thank you! Much appreciated. working flawlessly in Ableton 11.2 on Ventura 13.3. Great addition to my plugin arsenal, and will be using daily! Looking forward to hopefully more of your apps on desktop, and as others have mentioned, will gladly buy again!
