  • Wavs into thumbjam: yes. You can also sample directly into it from Audiobus.

Wavs into impaktor: no. It's entirely a synth.

After following the thread, and adding a tangent, I was thinking about Hip Hop and Z3ta, and came across preset: "House Organ Bass 02"...D J Mustard, anyone?

WOW! Now I feel like I need Z3ta though I don't make those type of beats lol.

I have the demo on my mac right now to hear the sounds for myself and your not lying. It sounds so familiar!

Edit: Who Do you Love has the sound it seems and one more. It's at the top of my head but I can't remember it.

    Edit 2: I'm Different :)

On that subject, Mustard's always said he does everything in Reason.

WOW! Well it kinda shows now that I play with the sounds in Zeta. It's really his type of style tbh. As for if I would use it personally Im still not sure but I will continue to try out the different the sounds.

Re: Mustard and Reason, I did not know that, I'd like to hear more about his thang.

Also, having heard that info, after hearing a familiar preset on another tool, I'm reminded, is it ever really about the gear/software?

Anyone else using Reason would've never come up with what dude came up with...

yes this is a forum about gear/software, and we all naturally love to gas on about such...but as has been pointed out above and elsewhere, with a deep enough softsynth and the programming skill, one can do what one wants. It's that idea of a bread and butter synth I spoze.
iOS music on iPad 1 is where I finally got my hands on synths, and have been trying to learn sound design since- and more and more I like the synths that are ports of vsti, (Z3ta, Thor, Cube, Crystal, iPolysix, iSem, etc) or could be (Sunrizer, Nave, Mitosynth etc) or went from iOS to vsti (Wavegenerator)! Though some lean one way and some another (cold v. warm?) these are all potential bread and butters, all are deep enough to be a one and only, with the onus on me to do the designing...

I hear you man in many ways what your saying is that its not the machine in many ways but its the man behind it and being creative with it. So though one has the same tools as mustard they would not have done it the way he has. I understand perfectly bro and I think after this next purchase Im going to stop purchasing new synths and just work with what I have.

Ended up getting Grain Science, Thumb Jam and Impaktor and love all of them though I spent more than I intended to lol, it's worth it though. I also got Thor Thursday as well. So thank you everyone for helping me reach my decision.
