Silly gimmick...
Why can't I just touch everything and get haptic feedback?
The need for using an additional controller makes me wonder what the benefit should be.
i like the idea.. maybe will borrow oculus from friend to try it :-)
Probably on a Apple Vision Pro, late February…
Is it a gimmick or is this the future?
Where you saw that info ? I saw on press release “not planned Vision Pro support for now”
Anyway definitely not going to pay +3.5k for Vision just because of this 😂 Maybe will borrow oculus just to try it, but not expecting i buy even oculus for serious use .. but would like to try it, just out of curiosity
To anyone scared Korg forgot about Gadget, at least Korg are still developing Gadget. 🤣
True - they just forgot about iOS users...![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smiley.png)
Exactly lol.
Wow this is proper cringe
This.
They snubbed Apple.
Compatible VR headsets are Meta Quest 2 / Pro. There are no plans to support Apple Vision Pro. (as of 2023/07/07)
Looks quite interesting. Might give it a go.
When will the next KORG apps or synth come to iOS? We haven't had one since 2020.
I'm a bit of a VR afficionado and want to see more music apps push the limits of the medium.
It's an interesting idea to release Korg Gadget in VR, but I suspect it will have the same issue as most instruments in the pretty interesting Virtuoso app - namely, that pressing buttons on a Quest 2 controller to record music just isn't as good as being able to use your hands. Make this all utilise hand tracking and you immediately have yourself a more user friendly (though more difficult to program) app. The parts of Virtuoso that work really well are the drum pads (because you're hitting them using virtual drum sticks in your hands), and the microphone where you're recording your voice. I can't see using the Quest 2 controllers to do everything in Gadget being a particularly fun experience.
“Let’s try to simulate recording music in real life…and record music in real life.”
Does it support AUv3?![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I believe all earthlings love this scene.
They’ve had a few modular synth VR apps for a while now on Steam. I’ve had a good play with one and it gets old pretty quick. This doesn’t look much more fun (to me anyway).
Hey, did anyone see the first episode of Bupkis? It’s a new sitcom starring Pete Davidson, Edie Falco, and Joe Pesci.
It contains a scene involving VR that I dare say is far more entertaining than this star fleet commander gimmickry.
Watch Bupkis!
I've always felt Gadget could be improved with the addition of motion sickness and a rubber chicken in each hand
Damn! You beat me to the crack I was gonna make. (And did it much better too.)
😂👍🏼
Oh well, nice to see Korg release something. But I would prefer AUv3 gadgets![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
A much better VR app is PatchXR which is a genuinely decent music app in which you can build modular synths, sequencers and environments. But it's still not something I pick up very much right now, maybe it would change in the future with a better headset. I still prefer tweaking real hardware. But it does have passthrough mode and the whole point of it is you can build impossible synths and environments. There's definitely an appeal here, just not sure how much it will take off....
This seems bloody boring…
I’m not impressed…
I'm of the same mind. Using buttons and pointing at everything is pretty boring and much slower than working on any of the other surfaces, even Nintendo Switch. Virtuoso is by no means perfect, but it has a few backgrounds and playable instruments. I just don't see the point of this if the only addition is a few models of instruments.
Even as an oculus owner this didn’t really entice me at all…just seems overly steppy and weird to do music this way
LOL!![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smiley.png)
Yeah I'm not all that impressed either. It's more of an "isn't this neat?" sort of thing rather than anything worthwhile unfortunately. But hopefully Korg gets this out of their system and goes back to iOS Gadget.
I used to own a Quest but it gave me headaches. Until they make the user experience more pleasant I won't bother. But I think there is a future for this tech, we need to be able to use hand gestures, though, this demonstration is just frustrating to watch.
I wished for a virtual drum kit when I had the Quest, I thought that would be fun. I look forward to the day when they've made lighter headsets, without motion sickness, with gesture control, low latency, etc. I think it will happen eventually, they need to start somewhere. Good for Korg.
Well I’m super glad all those Fairbanks IAPs have been funding this
