isxysnth is spectral cross synthesis / morphing plugin

it gets two input signals, splits each one into 2 parts containing noise and tone components and then allows morphing between all these elements. Freeze control allows spectral blurring-like effect for both input signals, two 3 second delay lines allow selection of different signal in time and also provide "freeze" effect

you can process left and right channels on stereo source or use this effect as multi-input AUv3 - in that case it will use 2 stereo inputs. Standalone mode currently works only in "mono" mode

  • three XY controls set balance between tone and noise components, amount of freeze and set up morphing
  • both inputs have 3-second delay line; freeze button ("*") toggles off recording.
  • gestures on all the main controls (3 xy pads and two sliders) can be recorded and played back when appropriate button with ">" label is toggled on
  • in current version standalone app supports only mono (L + R as inputs I and Il) processing

    I love Alexey's work
but still... apps need some audio/video demos...

I second that emotion. Example vids are essential. Long gone are the days when you'd simply buy an app without thinking twice. Please post one on this.

Update: I see a vid above. Thanks! Thinking about purchase.

  • This is a VERY interesting app and I think my favorite of his so far!

I’m currently backpack traveling in Mexico 🇲🇽 so I don’t have a steady connection and can’t manage a video, but wanted to weigh in that this one is pretty unique and easy to figure out what’s going on. Love it for sound experimentation!

So is this like a phase vocoder? From description it decomposes 2 input sounds into sines+noise and then lets you crossfade those components?

No offense @eylvy but that video does nothing for me in terms of musical usability. Thanks for posting though, I also don’t have insta, I see there’s a few there

It‘s probably working similar to an old IOS classic: Apesoft Sparkle
(my personal #1 app, together with SamplR)

and yes, it can „vocode“ quite well B)
(it’s easy, once you get used to the controls... but may be a mystery initially)

Sparkle is great. There was also csSpectral which unfortunately was dead in the water

To be honest I don’t think these spectral tricks to be so special anymore, but I’m willing to pay the admission price and take this one for a spin, and perhaps be pleasantly surprised

  • To be frank... it‘s outstanding.
I later got Zynaptiq‘s Morph (as part of a bundle) which features the exact same paradigm, but Sparkle simply outperformed it o:)

  • It does look great in terms of controls

  • Sorry for my shameless ad, but couldn‘t let the opportunity pass.
It‘s not intended against isxsynth in any way.

👍 I had a lot of fun with sparkle when it came out, haven’t used it in ages but now I might dust if off

  • Sparkle ✨ is great 👍 but this isxnth is different. The recordable xy of each panel and the 2 delays that are also motion recordable make it something different.

I bet there will be more demos very soon. To each their own, but I’m enjoying this one quite a bit. :)

  • It doesn't feel that different from the not long ago released Broohahaizer, I even think that so far I like Broo better. I need to try out some various sources, but as said, so far... And what's up with the name!? We expect weird names from A.N, well I do anyway. ISX is as boring as ... 🤐😳

@Pxlhg ...but should this one count as "Weirdly boring named app" ? :D

@waka_x yes, sorry, i know that, just kept my own experiments on instagram page. i will try to focus more on videos, that's correct

    @eylvy @sigma79 thanks for videos!

@Telefunky thanks for the link, i haven't seen it, that's very interesting!
My idea was to mix this quite well-known synthesis technique with the control that i find useful for performance situations

    thanks!

    😁

  • Broohahaizer and Isx just blew my ears such a traumatic signal the cochleas turned to a straight tube!😖 I just switch between some quick presets I'd saved in ISX (or AUM really).
Maybe not an intended combo?😂 Anyway thought you might wanna know.

  • @Pxlhg will check that, thanks; could you please tell me the project sample rate and output buffer size?
    sorry for that

It's alright, I didn't mean it to be an accusation.😊 Project sample rate is 48 and output buffer 512 (Aum).

    That‘s a good idea :+1:
Sparkle is a demanding app to be controlled in an improvised musical context.
(random and accidental noise excluded) o:)
Probably the reason why it never became that popular.

    Spectral Resonator

  • Tweaked the Nambu patch lol

    Cervicogenic Release.

    Sooon.

  • Hm. First impressions are that Sparkle does this better, and more musically, but this may be operator error at this stage. I do like the ease of recording the xy motion, however. I’ll persevere.
