Gauss, Rymdigare, Fluss and I’ll add to the chorus on MiRack.

@robosardine Yes, you can have MiRack as an effect in AUM. With 16 ins and outs, if you like (though AUM treats them as 8 pairs). I tend to load it in an effects slot by default, in case I want to pipe anything into/through it.

I think I’m losing my marbles - there is a thread on this already - which I took part in, but had completely forgotten about 😅. https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/35980/mi-rack-in-the-effect-slot-awesome
Going in this time. Here we go 😛

A few quick questions - how do you delete a loaded module - also some of the modules only seem to have one input/output or none at all - what do you do with the L+R cables on these occasions?

Deleting a module: double tap the module to get the pop-up menu, then Manage-Delete.

On the inputs and outputs, I assume you mean for audio? A lot of modules are mono, so you can either mix L+R together (a unity mixer like BogAudio UMIX is a quick method), just use L or R, or use two of the module in question (you’ll have to match the settings etc in this case, unless you want different processing on each channel).

Modules with no audio inputs are probably not audio processors, so either audio generators (eg oscillators) or CV processors/generators. Do you have an example in mind?

Some modules with L/R inputs will copy the left input to the right of only the left is plugged in. Others treat it as just the left channel. For those you can use a unity mixer as mentioned above or simply run a second cable to the other input. To run a second cable from a single output, drag a cable from the destination to the source.

Yes I was meaning only for effects used on audio. I may previously have been using modules that are not used as effects.

Here is an example of my query - taken from the list tagged as ‘effects’.

Chopper has one in and one out.
Perco has one in but no outs.

Is it only modules that are tagged as ‘effects’ that are effects? Are there some tagged as effects that can’t be inserted into a chain as effects? and are there effects that can be inserted into a chain hiding within other tags.
I’m only wanting to use it for effects.
    Thanks

I suspect perco has 3 outputs labelled LP, BP and HP, giving you an output-signal that's either high-, low- or bandpassed at the cutoff frequency.

You are of course quite right. My blind panic about spending £14.99 on something I would never get the hang of prevented me from thinking about this 😵

Thanks everyone - I am now quite happily working my way through the effects tag section to see what sounds I can muster out of it. I wouldn’t have managed without you 😍

  • miRack Plateau is one of those apps that I have to force myself not to use as "magic sauce" on everything. It's amazing tho.

  • Don’t think I’ve seen them mentioned yet but the AudioThing effects are awesome and have become some of my most used. FabFilter, Bleass, Caelum, and TB are my favorite and most used though. And FAC of course.

Yep. The effects chains that come with it, plus the hundreds available here and on the web make it more than worthwhile.

Say, where all do you go to find shared effects chains for mixbox generally speaking? Other than in this forum...

I bought it a long while back before I even knew that ios apps went on sale occasionally. I paid the full IAP (except for the sunset sound or whatever) even thought it was like 60 bucks. I don't regret buying it, but probably would have held out for a discount had I known those roll around often...

  • This thread is full of so many good ideas. I'm going to have to YouTube a lot of apps to listen to this evening. I hope the Sound Test Room has a bunch of videos of the apps I want to hear.

Glad you’re having fun with it!

Starting with modules tagged as effects is a good plan, but ultimately you can build your own effects with lots of other modules once you know what you’re doing (or before you know what you’re doing, in my case!). But sticking to the ones tagged as effects and maybe adding some modulation sources (LFOs and the like) will get you a long way.

Crystals and Micro Pitch can be very shimmery and dreamy as well. Love the Eventide effects. Now we just need Strymon on iOS.

  • Flux Pro by Caelum would compliment what you have very well and its still on sale. NuRack FX by 4pockets has a lot of value, plus other utilities built in. the UI isn't super simple though. That motion FX by bleass would be nice since you are in that system already.

No, not really similar. You have to build your fx chain. for something more immediate not already mentioned, perhaps FD-1 by Kai aras, Tails by unfiltered, Shimmer Delay by nembrini, or Flux by 4pockets

  • I don’t see BYOD in your list. Much of what you’re after is in there. Also, Tone Stack Pro + Pot O Gold IAP. When it goes on sale it’s about 16$ instead of 70

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm liking the Chow Tape app I downloaded so this distortion app looks good.
I do want an amp sim. I'm not a big IK Multimedia fan so I've avoided the Tone X app. I probably shouldn't be stubborn about it. But I've read good things about Tone Stack so I'll check into it. I appreciate it!

    Beef (amazing sounding overdrive/distortion module)
Korvpressor (my number one compressor on iOS .. great UI, great sound, very versatile)
Cascade (since it was released, my most favourite not-just-ordirary-reverb-but-way-much-more plugin)

Or just buy MiRack :-) It's easy to use it as Au FX, this is ALL you need to connect (input/output and FX of your choice in between) - it's almost infinite bank of interesting FX's .. There is multiple variants of every thinkable effect inside it as independent module, and the quality is absolute top notch in most cases ..

Is there a setting to get rid of the cables or make them more transparent. My brain just want to route the cable out of the way with tie wrap on the top rail. 😄
