I still need more incentive to get interested in this FX, so I'll patiently watch this thread. 😅

Have a shufti at Doug’s video from this evening for a start.

No worry, for the last couple of years I’m acting like thumbs up automata for all Doug's videos. 😅

  • Didnt think I would want this one… but after Doug’s video yesterday, I think I will pull the trigger and buy it. Really love the metallic transients this thing brings out.

  • I am considering this. On the demo by Audiothing and Dougs vid I do find it sounds great on percussion/rhythm.

Is the tapping on the gong recordable (exposed as an au parameter somehow, preferably 2, XY) or is it just for live performance?

  • And regarding XY does the gong respond differently when you tap different places? I’m guessing yes for this question and no to the previous

Not as MIDI, as far as I can tell - nothing appropriate shows in the parameter list in AUM. You can obviously record the audio, though.

Seems to. To my ears, tapping in the middle sounds different to the edge, and tapping the wooden case sounds different again.

Pretty cool, but my limited need to gongify stuff doesn't warrant a purchase.

Yeah, I can't remember ever wanting to do that. I would love to have a gong though.

Thanks for confirming. I will get it anyway, really liking the weird overtones this adds to the sound.

  • Sounds like interesting reverb, but is a one trick pony
